Publisher's summary

On the distant edge of humanity, Far Post Colony suddenly loses contact with civilization. The lives of thousands hang in the balance as one small crew takes a stand against an alien menace.

Immoral and illegal doesn’t begin to describe the genetic engineering dreamed up by the Carashock corporation. Experimenting with a hostile alien seed, humanity might just have discovered a new way to usher in its own ruin. Horrified by video captured at the highest cost, Quinn Hoffen and his crew have a tough decision to make—should they run toward danger, or away? As a Hoffen, Quinn knows there’s only one choice.

Paying with their own blood, Quinn’s small crew will quickly learn the meaning of the word sacrifice. The problem is, will sacrifice and unyielding bravery in the face of overwhelming odds be enough to stop the invasion of Far Post Colony from spreading to the rest of civilized space?

Good, but flawed.

It's a good continuation of the series, has a reasonable plot, if a bit out there for Sci fi. But it does have problems. The same problem it's has since book 2 of the original series, but it's gotten worse. This thing has so many continuity errors it's almost as if he doesn't have an editor. Chars act out if char then back in as the plot demands, mulligans and mcguffins abound. And it's not just book to book or even series to series, it's chapter to chapter. Just a few, the foods, the tech differences, the character inconsistencies. You're telling me their aunt Marnie, that lives next door, and loves to cook never made those kids a pizza? Or a burger? Were they never on any ship in the military they trained in? They never saw zero g lifts? Hell he saw one in book 1, then by book 3 had never seen one. They met Grey, whi introduced himself as Dorins husband, then met him agian like 6 chapters later for the first time again, and couldn't be sure it was her husband. I'm sure smart fabric was a thing for others in their galaxy, but they had some jankie WIRE connection? So many inconsistencies. But it's still a decent enough story.
