About this listen

There’s no such thing as luck....

Once a lady, reduced to a governess, Emilia Greene is desperate. The child in her care has been left orphaned and penniless, and Emilia will do anything to protect her—even track down the girl’s only relation. That man would be the next Viscount Sydenham, and surely he’ll be gentleman enough to take care of his cousin.

Or scruples....

Unfortunately, that man is Nicholas Dashwood, the dangerously attractive owner of the notorious Vega Club. He’s no gentleman, and he doesn’t want a title. What Nick needs is a governess for his younger sister.

When your heart is at stake....

Their precarious bargain throws them together in unsettling proximity, until neither can deny their attraction to each other. But Nick has enemies, and Emilia has secrets, and taking a gamble on happily-ever-after could cost them everything.

The final book in the Wagers of Sin series. Narrated by Beverley A. Crick.

Lovely

Although the story started a little slow, once it picked up, I couldn’t stop listening. I want to give more than five stars to the narrator, who brought the characters alive. It’s difficult sometimes for adults to do a child’s voice. However, Ms Crick did an extraordinary job with Lucy. You could actually feel the vulnerability in this child, and also in Charlotte. Nick and Emilia became the characters they were meant to be and of course, love, won out and the four became family. I have not read the first two books in the series and I would suggest doing that before you read the third or this one. It would help explain some of the characters better, but be sure to read and/or listen. It is well worth the time.

Another perfect book for a perfect series

Loved it. Hard to figure out which is my favorite. Maybe the story with amnesia, the Marquess story.

Narrator

Excellent job being female doing male voices! Great job all around as narrator. One of my favorites!

A moonlight serenade that never loses heart.

A moonlight serenade that stumbles through emotion, but never loses heart. Fortune Favors the Viscount delivers humor and heart with pinache. Emilia and Nick are an conveniently, inconvenient match. She's the fire, he's the ice and heartache is on the horizon. From sassy to sweet Linden brings all the feels. From all the feels to everything in between Linden and Crick make a perfect team.

Solid 4

The story is good but I was not as drawn into it as the other reviewers. Is it worth spending your credit on. Yes. Not one to give spoilers but the end was anticlimactic and some loose ends that did not tie up.

Another Exciting Romance in a Great Series!

Fortune Favors the Viscount is a semi-spicy romance that features a plucky heroine, and a dark, yet honorable hero. At times, there is repetitive description, and at one point in the plot, I was like, no way, she would not do this, it makes no sense (hence the 4 star story rating). There are so many positives about this book! The villain(s) make your skin crawl, very well written. The author, created rich backgrounds for the secondary characters, which further draws the reader/listener into the story. Hopefully, they will receive stories of their own one day.
As to the narrator, Beverly Crick, she has great voices (especially children), and I could easily differentiate between characters. It is best to listen to Ms. Crick's narration at a faster speed to receive it's best listening.
This book is credit worthy.

Excellent listen - great story

I anxiously awaited this book and was not disappointed. Carolyn Linden is one of my favorite authors. Her stories are creative and interesting and occasionally have a bit of mystery as in this one. And her character development is always spot-on. Her characters are rich, interesting and relatable. And...they're likeable.....most of the time.
Beverly A Crick's narration is hit and miss for me, but she did a good job with this book.
