About this listen

Alan Watts discusses the fundamental attitudes that run through all religions or "ways of liberation," as the Far Eastern disciplines might better be described.

By following these practices to the extremes of repentance, rebellion, and resignation, one may be freed from the endless cycles of reincarnation which perpetuate the human condition.

Wise words

Alan Watts has very wise words and analogies equivalent to proverbs. Would recommend anyone to hear his philosophy.

Excellent title with one criticism

This is an excellent title by Alan Watts. It is among one of my favorite of his lecture series. Watts speech can be of help in a person that is looking for spiritual awakening, as he does an excellent job of constructing a coherent explanation for deep topics. My only criticism of this work is that the chapter titles run at about 45 minutes a piece, which makes it harder to get to a stopping point when streaming.

Alan Watts is just the best at explaining reality.

Loved it. I never get bored when I am listening to Alan Watts. I have listened to many who say that these ideas cannot be put into words because words are not available to make it clear, but Watts is capable of crafting the explanation. He makes it clear and easy to comprehend. If you have never heard him speak you are in for an enlightening experience.

A true understanding of religion

Alan is a pleasure to listen to even if he was reading a dictionary. Regarding this specific work, he manages to expose the core of the main religious approaches to life and their fundamental conflicts (self contradictions). This work is a must for every student of theology, regardless of his “level of expertise”.

Just wonderful!

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Alan Watts share his thoughts in this delightful talk. Our paths crossed briefly in the early 70s in Big Sur, California. And I felt as though I was being transported back to that time as I listened. I’m so glad his talk was made available on Audible.
