About this listen

Working for Grimm isn't Marissa Locks' dream job. But when your parents trade you to a fairy godfather for a miracle, you don't have many career options. To pay off her parents' debt and earn her freedom, Marissa must do whatever Grimm asks, no matter what fairy-tale fiasco she's called on to deal with.

Setting up a second-rate princess with a first-class prince is just another day at the office. But when the matchmaking goes wrong, Marissa and Grimm find themselves in a bigger magical muddle than ever before. Not only has the prince gone missing, but the Fae are gearing up to attack Kingdom, and a new Fairy Godmother is sniffing around Grimm's turf, threatening Marissa with the one thing she can't resist: her heart's wishes.

Now Marissa will have to take on Fairies, Fae, dragons, and princesses to save the realm - or give up any hope of ever getting her happy ending.

Definitely a unique world and some great ideas. I’d have liked to see more character development of supporting characters, but I think that’s not the point of the story. It’s meant to be fun, and it is a fun listen.

Worth the read

Marissa is sold to Grimm's agency so her little sister can get her heart repaired. One of her jobs is to see the smooth joining of a princess and prince. If it seems a joining will not go smoothly she dates the prince gets him interested in her then has a messey, loud breakup in front of a group of people blaming him for being a jerk. Then he is happy to go for the princess. This is how she meets Liam and dumps him in horrid fashion. He is stunned as he really liked her. Marissa feels terrible as she had liked him too. Her job came first. She has many close calls on her assignments and makes lots of enemies. Good character development.

Marissa is a strong resilient woman betrayed by her parents.

I literally have hundreds of books in my audible library, and thought I had listened to all of the light weight but interesting female lead fantasies worth listening to on audible (as well as many that are not worth while). This one was a surprising find, very fun and interesting world creation and good characters. Well worth a listen, I just got the next in series.

Surprisingly good!

This book was well written, creative and a great start to a new series. It reminded me of Kim Harrison's books, just less romance and no sex. However, despite missing those 2 attributes it was still a great read.

A good read

The actual story of Free Agent is elaborate and written in a way so that every single detail does not need to be explained. It allows reader to learn as they go. An agency run by a Faery God-Father who handles issues brought to him. This book mostly covers ladies trying to meet their "prince-charming" but it's written with a modern twist. They also handle other cases and also investigate when things go astray. The main character is an agent who desperately wants to get out of her contract. As with any good story, things aren't as easy as they seem nor is the grass always greener on the the otherside.

This book definitely needed a better name and cover art. Neither does the story any justice. I wouldn't have guessed what this story was about a probably would have skipped if it wasnt free for this month.

Once you get passed the teenage insecurities and self loathing portions, then you'll get a chance to read the portions of the story that were done well. Unfortunately there are a few things in the very beginning that may put people off before they get deeper into the story

The biggest problem: There are a few times in the book where the features a woman needs for her to be beautiful are described. The features she needs in order to be considered beautiful... yup, you read that right. So you know why some women stopped at the point and didnt go any further... It gives you that feeling like this was written by an older white person who thinks you must be thin, blue eyed, with a sharp pointed nose in order to be beautiful 🤨. Not only is the main character body-shamed, but then the main character starts assesses the beauty of others. One female character is scarred and there are multiple references made about her limited ability to be beautiful.🙄

Good Story, bad title/cover art

I usually don't pay alot of attention to reviews because they can be wrong more often than not unless they are about crappy narrators, but I decided to give this a try not being able to decide on any other audible to listen too. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book and how much I am looking forward to the next. I listened straight through without pause.

Worth a credit!!

usually at the beginning of a story u can tell if a story will flow well and be well written. THIS story IS! This story takes elements we are all familiar with and makes them genuinely new in exciting ways. Its got action and intrigue yeah I like it

NEW AND REFRESHING

Too fast paced, main character has no personality. Unfortunate, because the world and potential of the storyline was interesting, but it was like it was populated by cardboard cutout people

Boring
