About this listen

Alexandra Monzelle is a hard-fighting, heat-packing Seattle vice cop, and she's not much interested in being protected. Her short skirt and sex-kitten heels are tools to lure her suspects into talking about the deadly new drug hitting the streets. She can take care of herself and then some. Unfortunately, she can't seem to get that through to Kellach Dunne.

Kellach is a fresh import from Dublin, and he's landed at the heart of a vicious motorcycle club that deals in guns, narcotics, and mayhem. He's all male, all rough power - and all interference in her damn investigation. Maybe he's one of the good guys. Maybe not. Lex knows an affair with an immortal like him would risk everything. No matter how delicious he looks....

Addicted to the series

Wicked Ride surprised me. I didn't know I would like this book so much. I rarely read PNR, yet I found myself obsessing about these characters. Witches, shifters, vampires, and demons? Yes, please! I'm seriously hooked on this series. I listened to the audiobook and could become addicted to Brock Thompson's voice. His range is impressive, and even his Irish accent is swoony.

Kellach Dunne is an Irish enforcer for the Coven Nine, currently undercover in Seattle and looking for a drug that could be used against witches. He has infiltrated Titans of Fire, a one-percent club involved in the drug and arms trade. Albeit bossy and broody, he oozes charm.

Detective Alexandra Monzelle is fierce and sassy. Entirely focused on her job, she is determined to prove she is nothing like her father, a former drug lord who ruined lives, including her mother's. But, with a strong sense of duty, she's not afraid of anyone. Not even the 6' 5" biker who is part of the club she believes is distributing the new drug flooding the streets.

They clash, arguing non-stop. Their exchanges are hilarious, and the tension is super steamy. Lex knows she has the law on her side. Except, there is a whole different world with very different rules she doesn't know about. Lex and Kell are protectors with dominating personalities. They are equal, even when everything in their worlds says differently. They have a common enemy. Yet, it takes them a while to work together. And mostly, Lex's stubbornness gets in the way, which sometimes annoyed me.

What can I say? I'm invested. The side characters are unique, and I can't wait to get the other Dunne brothers' stories. I think I'm in for a treat.

Good story but the narrator mispronunciations!

Any additional comments?

This book begins the "Realm Enforcers" series and set in "The Dark Protectors" world. It's a continuation that focuses mainly on the male witches. I LOVED the story - a good story is to be expected from Rebecca Zanetti.

Narration: I don't think it was necessary to change to narrator because, consistent with "The Dark Protectors" series, it is told from both the female and male perspective. However, I understand the change might be necessary. My one complaint - the narrator's pronunciation of certain names!!! I'm not certain which pronunciation is correct, but it should be consistent with the "The Dark Protectors."

For example, Karen White (narrator of "The Dark Protector" series) pronounces the King's name as "Dage" (rhymes with sage and as it's written). Brock Thompson pronounces it as "Daga" (rhymes with saga). Karen pronounces Karys as "cares." Brock says "caris." Karen pronounces Veis as "vice." Brock says "vay-is."

Again, the story is GOOD! But the mispronunciation is detracting.

Irritating

I understand that Lex is a detective... but her constant mistrust of her mate was very tiring and extremely annoying... she has some major hang ups... which considering who her father was its understandable but nonetheless I rolled my eyes dozens of times because of Lex

Great spin of of Dark protectors series!

If you love the Dark protectors series you will love hearing a few side characters finding their mates with a sexy MC twist! The only thing I took issue with is the narrator gives some characters Irish accents when they shouldn't have them and pronounce names from original series incorrectly. (Like Garrett the son of the main characters in the first installment of Dark protectors. His mom is American and in the original series it was even mentioned his dad "lost his accent centuries ago" so there Is no way their son has a heavy Irish accent as in this book) also the King of the Realms name sounds completely different here then original series.
It doesn't affect this series but it bothers me lol
Other then that I love to see what some of my fave smaller characters are up to!!

Wicked Ride by Rebecca Zanetti

Wicked Ride by Rebecca Zanetti

First book in the Realm Enforcers. A spin off from The Protector series. Paranormal romance.
A cop, a motorcycle club, an Irishman, and a murder start this series off fast and furious.

Fast moving, hot, and sexy.
The heroine is very independent and asserts she can take care of herself over and over. She does, but she is in over her head without even realizing these are not your average males. And talk about steamy - oh yeah.
Typical domination tactics by this author but it’s still pretty hot.

I will definitely read the rest of this series.

I listened to the audio version narrated by Brock Thompson. He did a good job with character variations and emotions.

Excellent book!!

I definitely enjoyed reading this story. This is my second time reading the story, however it's the first time listening to it on Audible. I'm very happy that I have the Audible version also because it was well produced and kept my interest the entire time. I love the Dark Protector series and I'm definitely enjoying the Realm Enforcers! Excellent book!!

Sassy, Sexy, Wild!

Any additional comments?

I loved this. It's a great "good guy in bad boy clothes" kind of story where opposites attract, old and modern. I just wish it had a bit fewer sex scenes and more action. Sure, it's a romance, so expect at least a few of those, but it seemed like every 3rd scene turns lusty. Oh well. This is, so far, the only series I've decided to continue with the sequel (even before hearing the free preview chapter of Book 2).

My favorite quote in the whole book is:
"That Irish brogue should be bottled up and sold to lonely women everywhere." Brilliant!

Brock Thompson's performance is straightforward, with just a hint of sarcasm at times, which I felt fit the story's diction well. He has just the right amount of emotion and inflection. Voices are distinct and easily differentiated, and the Dublin brogue is well-done. There were no issues with production.

I am also a narrator. I purchased this audiobook with a credit.

Really good

Any additional comments?

It must have been good, cause I got it on sale and ended up getting the next book in the series right away. Witches, Vampires, Demons, this book has it all and they all fit nicely into what we know about our current world. I like the forbidden love theme that runs through this series. I didn't read the previous series and I don't think it will stop you from enjoying this.I'm not sure I'll go on to the next book--at least not right away. I can see it getting repetitive, but maybe in a month or so I'll try another.
