Publisher's summary

Anxiety is the number one mental health problem facing young people today. Childhood should be a happy and carefree time, yet more and more children today are exhibiting symptoms of anxiety, from bedwetting and clinginess to frequent stomach aches, nightmares, and even refusing to go to school. Parents everywhere want to know: All children have fears, but how much is normal? How can you know when a stress has crossed over into a full-blown anxiety disorder? Most parents don't know how to recognize when there is a real problem and how to deal with it when there is. In Freeing Your Child from Anxiety, a childhood anxiety disorder specialist examines all manifestations of childhood fears, including social anxiety, Tourette's Syndrome, hair-pulling, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and guides you through a proven program to help your child back to emotional safety. No child is immune from the effects of stress in today's media-saturated society. Fortunately, anxiety disorders are treatable. By following these simple solutions, parents can prevent their children from needlessly suffering today-and tomorrow.

Good for younger kids

The advice in this book is excellent but definitely geared towards grade school age children

Great, but consider another format

If you are interested in this book, it is because you NEED it. With that in mind, I might suggest that you will inevitably want a written or e-book version. The reason is that it is highly unlikely that EVERY chapter is relevant for the issues someone you know is dealing with. You should expect that many chapters/advice will want to be read, re-read, highlighted and/or bookmarked as reference, while others will be completely skipped.

(I listened to this entire book, but decided to order a paperback copy as well when I was only 1/3 through the listen)

Very little focus on run-of-the-mill anxiety

Different approaches. Long on OCD and trichotillomania. School, sleeping alone barely touched. Listened @1.4-2.0x

So helpful and wonderfully detailed.

Would you consider the audio edition of Freeing Your Child From Anxiety to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version because I couldn't find the time.

Have you listened to any of Xe Sands’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Very wonderful performance by Xe Sands. She made the material understandable and relatable.

Any additional comments?

If you have a child with anxiety this book will help, hands down.

Hated the narrator

Narrator would do better in fiction stories. This was not read like a nonfiction book. I couldn’t follow her narrative. Also, it seems this book is better read than listened to. I will be returning it.
