About this listen

When you discover that who you really are has nothing to do with what your thoughts tell you, something incredible happens: a vast space opens up. From that spaciousness comes a deeper intelligence that Eckhart Tolle calls “alert stillness”—or our essential nature beyond form. From Stillness to Presence explores our role in the evolution of human consciousness and how we can each begin to invite the arising of awareness in our lives.

Shedding light on the human condition in its unawakened state, Eckhart helps us break free from cycles of self-induced suffering and frustration to realize who we are beyond the narrow, mind-made sense of identity, as we consider:

  • Recognizing “the voice in the head” as the first step in transcending it.
  • The direct link between presence and enjoyment.
  • Nonresistance as the pathway to inner and outer peace.

“This moment is always as it is,” explains Eckhart. “If you can accept that, the compulsive mind subsides, and who you are beyond form begins to emerge.” From Stillness to Presence points the way to a life that is ever more vital, creative, and inspired.

In a very concise manner, truth was told. Cutting through the shadows and illusions of mind created and mind dominated ’truths’. I recommend this to everyone but beginners may appreciate its simplicity yet depth. I have applied this in my life situation, as a physician, family man, and friend. I doing so, I have found peace.

Inspired, not rehearsed, power and direction

Mr. Tolle introduced us to living in the, the present, 'The Now'. He opened the door to it so we could walk around in that moment. But just for a moment.

Then he invited us to live there.

For me, the realization that neither the past nor the future actually exist, was profound & enlightening. So, when I downloaded this book, I didn't think it could rival his other work.

However,

I just finished From Stillness to Presence & my mind is blown all over again. Eckhart Tolle succinctly presents a completely new level of peace. A simple way to lift out of life's daily burdens by shifting how we experience our minds. How to witness the constant running commentary going on in our heads, so that we can quiet it. And to see how much power we've been giving that narrator, who is often unkind to us.

Life, minus the fear, panic and worry.

Would you try another book from Eckhart Tolle and/or Eckhart Tolle?

May be..

What was most disappointing about Eckhart Tolle’s story?

Well he is not really enjoy the human state of being as also a very important aspect of spirit. He does not give importance to the physical forms, but they are.. nothing in creation is less or more all things are important.. Yes change will happen but change is paramount for all things. and it is a wonderful way to live. For there is newness n each moment. He does not venerate this but brings it down. I do not agree with him on that. other wise he is a good speaker and speaks his truth with kindness and humor,Suffering is OK too. Nothing wrong with that as long as its with purpose and a new understanding that is more self loving emerges.. suffering is actually quite great !!! lol

Do you think From Stillness to Presence needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

well its philosophy so.. its a thought form in itself. so it can or cannot does not really make a difference..

Any additional comments?

He is too cynical.. .but funny. so I guess there is a balance.

As Much as I like Ekhart I don't agree with him

I love Eckhart, talks, and teachings – – all of them – – other talks available are much better than this one
