About this listen
The group of survivors must go up against their deadliest opponent yet: Winter.
The survivors must bounce back from their losses and push through a harsh winter. Again, the humans they cross are far more dangerous than the undead scrambling for their flesh. They must overcome battles within their own group to help one another survive the elements as they find themselves once again on the run with zombies and their own demons chomping at their heels.

Story
Years after the outbreak of a mysterious pandemic, hardly any survivors are left in the quarantined wasteland of North America. Hunger and the menace of man-eaters are nothing compared to the ferals–those who were infected and mutated by the virus. The ferals have an unquenchable need to hunt and kill, and even a single bite will quickly transform human into a rabid beast. Two survivors, the pregnant Megan and her brother David, leave a deserted colony to seek a safer haven.

I played all those cool video games. I watched all those movies. I even read the books. In most of 'em, the hero shoots the bad guys, drives a sweet car, never gets hungry, and always seems to get laid by the end. Yeah. Whatever. I gotta be straight with you about why I wrote this journal, and it comes down to one thing, the apocalypse kinda sucks. It doesn’t meet my expectations at all.

Story
For dinosaurs, it was a big rock. For humans: Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). When the Earth is hit by the greatest CME in recorded history (several times larger than the Carrington Event of 1859), the combined societies of the planet's most developed nations struggle to adapt to a life thrust back into the Dark Ages. In the United States, the military scrambles to speed the nation's recovery on multiple fronts including putting down riots, establishing relief camps, delivering medical aid, and bringing communication and travel back on line. Just as a real foothold is established in retaking the skies (utilizing existing commercial aircraft supplemented by military resources and ground control systems), a mysterious virus takes hold of the population, spreading globally over the very flight routes that the survivors fought so hard to rebuild.

Love love love it!!!!
Let me start off by saying that I'm kind of a "zombie snob" . It takes a lot to hook me on a series and Raymond Lee has me hook, line and sinker. I thought book one was good but the author has really stepped it up in book two. Don't get me wrong, there was lots of action in book one but book two is action packed and darker and more intense.if you haven't read or listened to hook one STOP RIGHT NOW and go grab it, you won't be disappointed.
As you know, Hal, Raven, Cruz, Damion, Janjai, Angela and Jeremy are heading to what they hope is safety at an army base in Alabama. Who will survive the trip, will they even make it? We get to join Raven and company's see what they have to go through to survive in this deadly and dangerous new life, if you can call running from both zombies and humans constantly a life. Why are some of the others having dreams centered around Raven? Is Cruz really crazy or possessed by evil like Hal says? The book ended at the perfect OMG moment, bravo Mr. Lee bravo. This is darker and more intense than book one and I LOVE IT!!!!
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.

Zombie Popsicles
Second book in the series, better than the first. While the first was more character based this one was more plot based. Simple plot, survive the zombies, but still a good plot. Really liked the winter aspect. Something that I personally haven’t come across before but always a thought with zombie survival. I enjoyed how the group tried to survive the cold and the frozen zombies. Clearly the author is a huge zombie fan and actually knows how to tell a zombie story that isn’t run of the mill. Clearly shows like Supernatural and TWD are big influences as he has the humor, scares, and excitement are all prevalent.
Wally Mart was interesting and provided the majority of the character development for the newcomers. As with most zombie stories there are the typical few that you want to punch in the face and the others who actually have their stuff together. Raven still being my favorite, and glad to see she is still a bad ass. Can’t wait to see what is in store for her. Don’t get attached to anyone though.
Now while I thought that plot was fairly basic in the beginning it picked up steadily as the story went along. The winter portions were great and the ending location is going to be a doozy. Can’t wait to see how all of that turns out. Really was a great crescendo of story and as the first, ended before I wished it had. Can’t wait for the next. Hope to find out more about the mail order brides. Big plot point that needs much more explaining.
Only one thing bugged me even though it didn’t change my rating. I don’t like it when fictional books gets political regardless of how it is portrayed. If it were disguised as some greater allusion that would be fine as plenty of historical literature was political; however, a zombie novel doesn’t need to mention it at all. I enjoy fiction because it isn’t normal life and when there is actual trolling in a book I bow my head and shake it.
As before with the previous book the narrator did a great job. He continues with excellent character voices and provides the excitement this book needs. I am glad he stayed with the series and hope he continues on. It wouldn’t feel the same without him.

Lots of twisted action.
For those who enjoy this genre the Book delivers plenty of twisted action and characters that will hold the interest
of any follower.
The Narrator did a good job in bringing the story to the listener.

Winter Blast
I totally enjoyed this book as the characters continue from 1st book. Enjoy the characters of Raven, Cruz, Hal, the twins, Elijah and especially Damian. It has the gross guts and blood of zombie action that increases after the winter as well as other groups of survivors which are just as evil and hints of humor. Hope there is a next book and this is not the end. Recommend to all zombie lovers with good character development I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you!

great ZA series
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so was eager to dive into this one. I'm Very glad I did, because it was so good. I thought it was even better than the first book. The narration is great and the story continues to be character driven. Very good series.

Another good book.
This is the second book that I’ve listened to with this narrator. Looking at book 1’s review, I’m not sure why/how I commented the way I did?! I don’t know. Re-listening to the sample, he sounds pretty much the exact same as with book 2. On that note, he adds an inflection, emphasis, and/or simply drags out the last word of sentences. I found this very annoying! Does he talk like that normally? Based on the audiobooks he’s narrated which are more non-fiction, this is not his normal way of speaking. Had the story only been okay, I would have stopped listening. But thankfully for the author, I wanted to know what was going to happen to the characters so I pushed through the annoying-ness of the narration.
Questions/Comments:
I found it questionable that the group had agreed they would all sacrifice themselves for one person (forgot the gay guy’s name) when tons of zombies were coming at them while in the store. One person who had randomly run off without a word.
There was a confusing part when we’re introduced to Richards. It’s starts with him reminiscing about Raven. Suddenly he’s talking about a woman in a bar as though he were still talking about Raven. But no! Without a transition, he was now talking about Dina. I don’t know if I was hearing things that weren’t said or vice versa, because I listened to this scene twice. He brings up Raven and how he had sent a friend request to her via Facebook. They meet at the bar. Suddenly it’s Dina he’s talking about and she tells him a different name. That part made absolutely no sense because Richards knew her, knew her real name. AND! She had to have known Richards also if she knew he was married but filing for a divorce. Let me rephrase that: he is the one to say he’s “still” married and she says how Tony had told her about the divorce proceedings. Huh? If that were the case why say a false name?
Although I’m not a fan, I felt the author overdid it with Donald Trump, Kayne, and Kim K. references.
I can still appreciate a good fart joke! lol
There was the scene when they’re sliding down the hill with the truck hood. Cruz is steering and Raven is directly behind him. She goes to look in front but others are blocking her view.... Who?
The corpse in the frig was covered(?) in large black bugs. Where did the bugs come from when it was winter and snowing outside? How would the two corpses smell bad when it was freezing outside and the front door had been left opened?
Hal and Raven went outside to get snow to melt for water. Hal said something and Raven responded by saying his previous comment reminded her of her father. He asked: “Did you lose your parents before all this?” Wha?! She’d already told them all she had.
Obviously the people in Carlos’ neighborhood were all bad. But when the shotgun guy first moves the curtains, then sticks the gun out the window at the beginning, why did they automatically run for cover and not call out why they were there? I mean they had to have been in an obvious spot for the man to have seen them.
I was really wondering about that backup generator. Unless I missed the explanation, how did no one hear it?

The craziness continues...
Frostbitten (One Nation Under Zombies, Book 2) by Raymond Lee and narrated by Mark Westfield is a strong addition to the story. This is a good series for those who enjoy character-driven zombie stories. Would recommend if you have listened to the first book.
The story continues where the previous book left off. The group attempts to survive while making their way to a safe base while encountering threat after threat. New characters help make this book full of action, while some of the main characters struggle with their past choices. Mysteries come about that I’m hoping will be answered in the next book. By the end you’ll be searching for the third book.
Not sure if it is me or if the narrator struggled more with this one, but it felt like the voices were rougher than the first book.
Overall, I recommend, especially if you enjoy character-driven zombie books. I would recommend reading this series in order or you will miss a lot.
Parental guidance/trigger warnings: This is a book for adults who like a little darker themes. Death, guns, and crazy people play large roles in this series.

Interesting book, needed some work
I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.
This book was pretty decent, though I wish I had read/heard the first book it would make more sense. The author does a pretty good job of writing zombies but it needed a bit more work. The characters needed more work and while you don't need a lot of character development for a zombie book, you do need some. The same goes for world building. Maybe some people enjoyed this more but I like more "bite" to my stories and this needed it. It did have an interesting premise though and I am curious enough to check into the books and see if I'd like to read them or not. It's hard to give up on a good zombie story.
Also, I had a lot of trouble with Mr. Westfield's narration. He has a strange dip in his tone which was less noticeable (but still there) when he would do voices for the characters but when he was just reading non-speaking parts it was very noticeable and really bothered me. Enough where I wish I had read the book instead of listened to it. It made it hard to get into the story because the odd inflection in his voice kept taking me right out. He did do well with giving each character their own voice though, I wish I could've gotten over the odd tone.
Overall, it's not a bad story that has a lot of promise. Not sure I'd listen to more of the series but I may check the books out. I would strongly suggest listening to the sample before buying, to see if Westfield's inflection bothers you or not.

2nd book in a zombie series
This 2nd book was very good. I really enjoyed it. I liked the continuing story of the characters from the 1st book. The introduction of the new characters worked great. I personally would prefer more human vs zombie and less human vs human. Looking forward to the next in the series. I was given this for free for an honest review.
