Publisher's summary

It is a typical holiday season at chaotic Chicago O’Hare when a few members of the large Alexander family waited to board flights - one to South Carolina and the other to Washington, DC. At the same time, a member of the Montgomery clan from the Pennsylvania mountains also waited for a delayed flight. Little did either family know or suspect, the effects from this first meeting would last forever.

Family is everything to the Alexanders and the Montgomerys. Although they both come from farm backgrounds, they didn’t know each other or the histories involved. However, these two divergent clans would come together and change the lives of so many - and maybe even the world. As their lives play out and intertwine in surprising ways, they face a challenging future and marshal their forces to work for the better good of all.

The first installment in a great family saga...

'Fruit From This Tree' is the first part of a longer family saga that I previously had a chance to listen to - and it was a really entertaining listen, so I can definitely recommend this book to you. Here's what I wrote about the series before:

It's difficult to decide what genre it really is as it's a mixture of many, but I'd put it on the social drama/family saga shelf if I had to choose one - because that's what it mainly talks about: family and relationships, not necessarily of the romantic kind (although there's quite a lot of romace there too). What we really get is accompany the Alexanders in their everyday life - following them in their ups and downs, their joys and heartbreaks, observing them build relationships, develop friendships, experience failures and successes... And it's a fun journey as the book has quite a lot of humour; most of the characters have that comic streak in them that makes the read/listen lighter even when the situations are quite serious or dramatic...

And there are a lot of characters; the Alexanders are a big family and they have even more friends, and then there are also acquaintances who soon become friends....:) And they all feel real, have distinctive personalities, make you want to meet them and become a part of that circle of exceptionally open, kind-hearted, loyal and strong people.

Narration by Ms Hazen is great, as usual. She brings all those characters to life, making them feel even more real:) As always, you have no problems recognizing who's speaking as every character is given a distinctive voice - I still, after listening to so many books read by her, wonder how she does that:) Generally, it's a very good interpretation of the book...:)

And last but not least:), after quating the above from my other review, I have to warn you, too - this particular installment ends at such a point that you will definitely want to grab the next part to find out what happens next in the life of the Alexanders...:) I'm just saying, you know - you've been warned you'll crave more...:)

The Alexander and Montgomery families

It’s the Holiday season and many families are traveling. Flights are delayed as the weather comes Into play. A chance meeting at the airport sets an incredible family story into motion...

Alexandra Ward has created a fantastic cast of characters with incredible relationships and histories. I love immersing myself in their fabulous stories.

When Kelley Hazen narrates an audiobook, I lose myself in the story. She is so talented... I forget that I’m listening to one person telling the story. She does a fantastic job with giving each character their own unique voice and she really allows their personalities to shine through.

Great Read

Fruit From This Tree: Episode One was a great read by Alexandra Ward. A few of the members of the large Alexander family are at a chaotic Chicago O'Hare airport during the holidays. At the same time, a member of the Montgomery family was also waiting for a delayed flight. Neither people knew the effects of this meeting and how those effects will last forever. Family is everything to both families. These two families would come together and change the lives of many people. I really loved reading this story and loved the life that Kelley Hazen brought to the characters. I can't wait to read more in this series.

An Awesome Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it fun. These books are based on family and friends and its can be uplifting listening at times, heart breaking at other times and sometimes you just find yourself laughing out loud and you have to back it up because you missed something. The interesting and intriguing characters keep you listening, wondering what unexpected twist will happen next. It's very enjoyable and I'll have to check out more books from this series.
