About this listen

A silly drunken bet, that lesbian Jac can bed a straight, beautiful coworker, blows up in her face in this charming opposites-attract romance.

Boredom and booze inspire Jac Lanier to accept an unusual wager from her best friend to seduce Lauren Blaine, a beautiful coworker, within a month. One small problem: The woman is straight. Not to mention engaged. And a complete stranger. Nonetheless, Jac is pretty confident that she'll win. Naturally, her plan goes awry - after all, if you sow an onion seed, you won't harvest a peach. Will Jac reap the bitter fruit of her games when the truth comes out? Will Lauren turn the tables on her?

Contains mature themes.

Quick enjoyable listen. I thought the narration was good. The fact the story was very good definitely helped. I do love a good bet book. Would recommend if you want to be entertained.

This one was tough. Just based on the description you know the secret bet is going to come out at some point. It's the buildup to the breakup that stayed in the back of my head the whole time. Couple that with a heart of gold main character in an abusive relationship that I want the best for and extra emotions mingle in. Not going to ruin anything, but this is well written and gets you in your feels.

Stupid bet, good story

I loved how a woman who thought she was straight fell in love with another woman.

The love that developed between the main characters.

Well done … the story line was very well developed … liked that they were together most of the time…. So you could see them getting closer. Maybe could have been more towards the end but overall really good…. Very sweet. Felt “personal/intimate“ how the MCs interacted throughout.

Really Good..

Surprises come in all flavors, not just the ones you would expect. It’s certainly interesting to see all of the layers of these characters revealed. While the initial premise is a bit misogynistic and certainly disrespectful, there is real remorse on the part of our leading lady and it all played a part in this twisted fate romance. So keep reading if you initially question this. What’s that song- God bless the crooked road that lead me straight (NOT) to you. It's a wicked way to begin, but it’s also a compelling storyline. I’m not sure I would so easily dismiss the fiance's behavior. You’ll have to listen to this beautifully narrated, sensuously scandalous and scathingly brilliant book, to form your own opinion about that! Highly recommend!

This book is like a box of cereal… a really tasty treat… with a surprise inside!

I was mostly really enjoying the book, even though parts of the plot hit uncomfortably close to home.
It seemed to bog down and get overly sentimental around 75-80% in. I guess I wasn’t in the mood for that.
There was a scorchingly hot scene in the last third of the book, that alone could make it worth the listen.
Anastasia Watley could read the phone book and I’d listen, so that part was good.
I’m left with mixed feelings about this one, because I started out liking it so much. In the end, I liked more than I didn’t. I guess I would recommend it for the overall plot and a few specific scenes. The parts that were done well were done very well. I only wish the whole book was as good.

This was my first audiobook by this author and I'm already looking for my next. I loved the storyline and the main characters. Two friends make a semi drunk wager on whether Jack can seduce a straight, engaged lady from the one friend's office. The friend had a crush on Jack and part of the wager was if Jack didn't sleep with the straight coworker then Jack would sleep one time with drunk friend. thankfully the friend's plan backfires when Jack and Lauren meet and they start hanging out constantly. Jack and Lauren like each other instantly and Jack wants out of the bet. There were times I was actually stressing over how Lauren might find out about the bet ha I know that sounds funny. I really wanted Jack and Lauren to admit feelings and be a couple instead of friends and that stupid bet lingered in the background. All worked out well. I liked that they didn't have sex until later in the book when they were committed to each other. Great listen (although didn't like the specific night club mentioned again near the end). Narration was very good. Great way to spend my time in the car.

Hard to Stop Listening
