The one day English teacher Reagan Wild is late for work - and looks like she dressed herself in the dark - she remembers Carter Anthony, a well-known football star, is coming to the school to deliver a talk to her students.
While Reagan knows Carter from her high school days, since he was her past crush, she wasn't ready to see him again. At the time, she hated being invisible. But right now, she wished she could simply disappear.
Carter Anthony is keen to give back to his hometown, but what he doesn't expect is getting something in return. When a chance encounter with Reagan, the shy girl from his past, happens, he knows instinctively this woman is supposed to be in his life.
With an embarrassing ability to blurt out whatever's on her mind, Reagan doesn't understand Carter's attention. She has no doubt, though, he'll soon realize his mistake when he discovers just how crazy she and her family are. But no matter what he sees, what he hears, or how her looney family behaves, he doesn't run. In fact, Carter's family seem just as unique as hers.
Through dog poop, naked yoga, and the paparazzi, can Carter and Reagan have any hope in love, even when it's fumbled?
Contains mature themes.

Caveat One: Both voice actors did well with what they were given. However, Lila, the author, seems to be British (I looked her up after writing, but before posting, this review - she’s Australian.), writing a story set in the US, meant to be US culture, but somehow meshes US culture with British slang, mannerisms and references. (There doesn’t seem to be much Aussie slang, but certainly Britishisms are present.)
Caveat Two: As stated, this is supposed to be set in the US with US characters. However, the two voice actors are British (male) and either Australian or from New Zealand (female). Both did a good job and didn’t disappoint. Nooo complaints. However, that duality of the story of being written by someone not from the US, but set in the US, voiced by actors not using an American accent was…different. I DID enjoy it, but I know some listeners will find fault. I didn’t. Bring on more Rupert! Love his voice.
Caveat Three: the author wrote a delightful story, so fun to watch these two fall in love. I truly enjoyed it and laughed hard many times. Jeez, Lila! Filterless characters are so much fun! However, as an avid sports fan, I cringed at the many inaccuracies portrayed when it came to almost anything US football related. I get it - I GET IT! - it is just a story - a romance at that! - and the author definitely gets an A for effort. The inaccuracies were background noise and did nothing to take away from the story. Most won’t care about them, but my poor ears cringed. Eh, again, Lila gets an A for effort. It’s difficult understanding and writing about another culture’s entrenched pastimes and traditions, especially ones that aren’t found around the world like soccer/football. I know I’d mess up writing about rugby and everything encompassing it.
