About this listen

Daisy Lewis is experiencing a relentless string of bad luck.

Fortunately, Daisy has her sister's destination wedding coming up. A week of sand, sea, and sun in the South Pacific as the maid-of-honor is exactly what Daisy needs to forget her upturned life and focus on the positive. That is, until Daisy meets the best man.

If you take tall, dark, and handsome, and add a dash of rugged, a pinch of brooding, and a whole lot of sexy, you've got Tai Wakefield. Unfortunately he's also a major grump, total alpha, and seemingly out to antagonize Daisy at every turn.

As if being part of the wedding party with Tai wasn't bad enough, Daisy's bad luck soon resurfaces when she ends up on a cramped sailboat with Tai and the newlyweds. Which then shipwrecks on a deserted island near Fiji.

With rescue weeks away, Tai and Daisy realize the only way they're going to get through this mess is to start working together. And with their guards down, they get closer. A lot closer.

Soon, Daisy realizes that the only thing worse than being stuck on a deserted island is being stuck on a deserted island with a man she hates to love and loves to hate. A man that can break her heart.

Contains mature themes.

I love Rupert Channing's narrations! His Kiwi accent is as yummy as his British ones. This was a charming story with a slow burn, a little spicy and some good drama even.

I was really enjoying this book until I think I got bored with how slow this is. Given the tension and the banter that could have been enough, but I think it dragged on so much after they got stranded that I kept zoning out. The book should have picked up the moment during the waterfall scene and then it stopped. The tension in that scene would have been perfect... not that the kiss wasn't good, but there's a waterfall and then nothing else happened? There still would have been a will there/won't there but the stakes would have been raised.

Good news is the spicy scenes are actually really good I'll give it that much credit. If you like slowburn buring, journal passages, and sunshine/grumpy ship, this book is for you.

Kind of Lost Me

I couldn't get past the narrator's choppy voice. I tried speeding up the audio but that only made it more noticeable, kind of like a female Christopher Walken, but not in a good way. I wanted to know what happened in the story but the vocal pauses and inflections grated too much. I guess I'll have to try the hard copy instead.
