About this listen

This audiobook is about predictions of the future from both projections of existing trends and possible major paradigm changes.

It is possible to make pretty good future predictions by taking into account three things:

  1. Technological and sociological trends
  2. Potential paradigm changes
  3. Intuition

Technological trends are analyzed by and engineer, and intuition is used to help fix the most likely trends in our future.

What are possible major paradigm changes which will also affect our future?

Projections of the year 2100 as well as several hundred years ahead: My goal in this audiobook is to make the most accurate predictions, of how our future will be over the next centuries, that have ever been made.

What does the future hold? What will the world look like in the future? How will we live our daily lives?

Great Book

Many of the topics he discussed are happening now, he does a great job extrapolating where this is all going. If you are looking for ideas to bootstrap a startup, this is a great place to begin.

Very Informational

Martin is refreshingly optimistic about the future of technology. He suggests that while we have little control over the inevitable technological forces on the horizon, we do have influence over their character and how symmetrical those relationships end up being.

How Will Be The Future

Thorough. He makes a solid case for his points. I had to go slowly and think about his points. Predicting the future is quite difficult, but he appears to be as well on-target as one can get.

Highly Recommended

Even though I am an Information Technology professional, I find Mr. Martin's writing style very accessible to the "uninitiated' and would highly recommend this important read to anyone even remotely interested in the subject material.

Golden Words

In author's own words, “When answers become cheap, good questions become more difficult and therefore more valuable.” The Inevitable raises many important questions that will shape the next few decades.

Very Interesting

The most interesting nonfiction book I’ve read about the future in a long time. I constantly found myself rereading passages and marking pages to come back to later. Martin has been an enthusiastic observer of both the human condition and the state of technology for decades as a co founder of Wired, and his insights are deep, provocative, and wide ranging.

It Stands Out

There are plenty of books about the future. Many are inspiring and exciting. However you usually have not much ideal after reading when the predictions would happen and in what form. The Future Predictions by an Engineer and Seer
stands out from other "future" books in that what it predicts are actually happening. It connects present with the future seamlessly. You even could extract ideas to help invent new products for the future. That makes the book both inspiring and useful.

Much Informative

One of the greatest books on technology you'll find in the market. I can't wait for Kevin to write his next book, and I am constantly seeking out more books like this one and they don't really exist.

Great Information

This is an easy read, and the general ideas presented seem obvious once you read them. It was not what I was expecting or hoping for, with no big surprises or ah-ha moments, but still worth the time.
