About this listen

A traitor is on the loose. A treacherous navy captain plans to sell military secrets to the alien Il Ronn. The only man who can stop him is Sam McCade. The story just kind of chugs along without giving us any interesting insights into either the characters or their civilization.

The narrator doesn't help. He reads in a monotone that sounds like it comes from a second rare nature documentary.

I could not continue to listen and put this aside without getting anywhere near the end.

Boring

This might be the worst performance I’ve run across and I’ve listened to A LOT of audiobooks. It had a strong vibe of a computer reading to me. The way sentences and phrases were strung together made no sense. Like the words were being read without any context. This rating isn’t really fair to the book but from the 1/3 I got through before moving on Dietz had some interesting ideas. I’ll have to try it again in hard copy format some time.

I tried making through this book. I really did. This is the first of Dietz’s books I didn’t like. The narrator didn’t help. It was like listening to a 1980-90 education slide presentation made in the ‘70s. 😳

Seventh grade slide show
