Publisher's summary

Seizing his one chance to escape, Ethan Hosking leaves his violent ex-boyfriend, leaves his entire life, and walks into the path of a raging bushfire. Desperate to start over, a new man named Aubrey Hobbs walks out of the fire-ravaged forest, alive and alone. With no ID and no money, nothing but his grandfather's telescope, he goes where the Southern Cross leads him.

Patrick Carney is the resident lighthouse keeper in Hadley Cove, a small town on the remote Kangaroo Island off the coast of South Australia. After the tragic death of his lover four years ago, he lives a solitary life; just him, a tabby cat, the Indian and Southern Oceans, and a whole lot of loneliness. He's content with his life until a stranger shows up in town and turns Patrick's head.

Patrick never expected to be interested in anyone else.

Aubrey never expected to be happy.

Between Aubrey's love of the stars and Patrick's love of the ocean, these two fragile hearts must navigate new waters. If they can weather the storm of their pasts, they could very well have a love that eclipses everything.

Contains mature themes.

Next level

This book is next level amazing, and Joel’s narration is some of his best. The absolute terror and pain and love... he just emotes it so well. I thought Oz was my favorite by him, but this may have bumped it. And Walker’s went above and beyond with this book. It’s now top of my favorites list.

A difficult but lovely story

I loved Aubrey. He was so delicate yet strong. His journey was such an integral part of the story that I think I was pulled In immediately. I also want to note how important it is to show domestic abuse in a queer relationship, specifically with men. Patrick was a beautiful soul. His kindness and compassion was the perfect fit for Aubrey. As was Hadley. The residents were extremely annoying but I guess small towns are like that?

Interesting story

This book was different. Not the most exciting I have ever listened to, but it was interesting and I enjoyed it.

A must read

My first time reading Walker, but I must say it won’t be my last! Galaxies and Oceans is truly a touching story. The content kept me from getting a couple nights of rest because I was honed in to the beauty that was Patrick and Aubrey. Laughs, tears, and more smiles will come when you take the time and get this book! Definitely a must read!

A winning combination

I fell in love with Galaxies and Oceans the e-book, and as usual, Joel Leslie brings it to life with his brilliant voice talent. I laughed and cried, and enjoyed every minute of this recording. I highly recommend!

Beautiful

Realistic character and relationship development. So easy for me to imagine the location and I wish I could go to this beautiful island and see the stars from a lighthouse. Having been in an abusive relationship the flinching and apologizing is so relatable but it’s not overdone or preachy. No telling, just showing, and it’s not the only thing the book is about and doesn’t define the character. It’s very well done.
