About this listen
I’ve got one shot to win his heart.
I’ve had a crush on Preston Royce for as long as I can remember. Only, I’ve never told him, or anyone, because he doesn’t see me that way. (And because his sister, Charlie, happens to be my best friend!)
But when Preston’s girlfriend breaks his heart, Charlie comes up with a plan to get them back together - a plan that involves Preston and me pretending to date.
Yeah, it’s a bad idea cozying up with a guy who’s still in love with his ex, but it may be my only chance to get close to him before we graduate high school. He thinks we’re faking.
Meanwhile, I’m falling more in love with him....
Game Plan is perfect for anyone who likes their sweet romance with a dash of drama. It is the fourth book in the Varsity Girlfriends series.

Cameron Bates (Cam) could have almost any girl at Franklin High School...except for the one he wants. Unfortunately Bebe seems to be immune to his flirty charm and good looks, which means one of two things: a) she's completely oblivious to how he feels, or b) she's just not into him. If that's the case, declaring his love would be disastrous for their friendship. Bianca Barnes (Bebe) has a huge problem: the universe hates her. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer—they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. I hate you, Fuller James. I hate your floppy hair and your lopsided grin and those laughing blue eyes that always seem to be laughing at me. I hate that you're the most popular guy in school and I'm still the girl who sneezed and spit out her retainer on someone at a middle school dance. It's just such a cliché. I hate that I'm being forced to tutor you in English and keep it a secret from everyone. Because otherwise it might put our basketball team's chances at winning State in jeopardy, and even though I hate you, I love basketball.

So when mean girl Merritt shot her mouth off about how fat people should just lose weight, I couldn’t take it anymore. And now I’ve got a huge problem. To prove curvy girls like me can get happily-ever-afters too, I have to get our school’s quarterback, Beckett Langley, to take me to homecoming. And he doesn’t know I even exist. But it’s not hopeless. Four other girls just like me are willing to help, because enough is enough.

Charlie wants a good relationship with her body, but it's hard, and her mom leaving a billion weight loss shakes on her dresser doesn't help. The world and everyone in it have ideas about what she should look like: thinner, lighter, slimmer-faced, straighter-haired. Be smaller. Be whiter. Be quieter. Cute light hearted YA romance
This is a stand alone novel but I definitely think it makes it better to have read the first one in the series to have all the background info. Loved that we got a continuation of their stories! Cute story, great narrators, and great pace that it didn’t just become repetitive like most.

Great Read
Game Plan (Varsity Girlfriends #4) was a great read by Kayla Tirrell. Daria has always had a crush on her best friends brother, Preston. She has never told anyone including her best friend, Charlie, about her crush. Preston’s girlfriend broke his heart and Charlie tries to get them back together. Her plan is for Daria and Preston to pretend to date. Reluctantly Daria agrees although she winds up falling more in love with him every day. I really enjoyed listening to Daria and Preston’s story and can’t wait to read more by Kayla Tirrell.

(4.5 stars) - the best for last!
This is a bit like a continuation of Courtside Crush that switches from Charlie in the first book to Daria in the second. It's not necessary to read the first to enjoy this one, as it stands alone just fine, but it does provide a fuller understanding and appreciation of the story in my opinion.
Daria is a good girl, for the most part. She's trying to please her parents and make them happy with her. It never works. She's had a crush on Preston for years. Ironically, when she gets a chance to go out with him & it appears as though things could be looking up, instead her life seems to start falling apart.
Daria, while not a pushover, is still surprisingly acquiescent. Initially I was frustrated that she didn't stand up for herself more, but realized that she was right in believing her parents weren't going to listen. She was fortunate her aunt was able to help, but I did wish that she could have found a way to advocate for herself.
Preston's obtuseness is maybe a little hard to believe, but he's earnest enough & his apology is so sweet & kinda funny that you can't help but want her to forgive him. They do go really well together!
While the story is improbable, it is told believably enough to just sit back and enjoy the ride. The characters are easy to like and care about.
*Clean romance level: passionate kisses
[The narrator has a pleasant voice, and does an excellent job with the different characters' voices]

A fantastic YA fake romance relationship romance
An enjoyable fun quirky fake boyfriend clean YA sports romance. This engaging storyline had my interest from start to finish. Its includes friendship, a crush, a cheating ex, a crazy plan, cluelessness, and a little drama. The characters were fun, interesting, and well developed. I enjoyed seeing other characters from previous stories in the series in this fantastic standalone. The narration did a great job of giving all characters their own voices along with portraying the emotions and spunk of each. Really made me feel everything as I voluntarily listened and reviewed this amazing story adding an extra layer of enjoyment.

What a gem!
This was a fabulous story and so fun to get to see the previous characters from other books in the series. Tirrell gives us the best characters with a light story that always tugs at my heart and makes me smile. Game Plan was no different. I'm pretty sure most females will appreciate this story! Who hasn't crushed on at least one of their friends brothers? It seriously made me reminisce a bit! Megan Meyer was a great narrator. I feel like she gave a good voice to all characters without being to over the top. She spoke clearly and concise, and I seriously appreciate that!

Secret Crushes!
I previously listened to Courtside Crush, which is part of the series this audiobook is in. Each are standalones, so no need to worry about needing to listen to the other to follow along. It was great to hear familiar characters again! This time the story focuses on Charlie's best friend Daria and Charlie's brother, Preston. Daria and Preston are going to pretend to be each others new interest in hopes of it trying to make Preston's ex jealous and win her back. I enjoyed listening to how the whole story played out from start to finish!
