Publisher's summary

It’s been 12 years since the undead hordes swept over the earth, forcing mankind to the brink of extinction. We now live like rats, scavenging in the ruins of our fallen civilization as the dead hunt us night and day.

There is little left to scavenge, however. Grocery stores were emptied ages ago, gas tanks have long been dry, and bullets are so precious that a man is lucky to have two to his name.

Still, we survive.

But for how much longer? Instinct and love have combined to turn Darwin’s theory on its head. The strongest didn’t survive in this world. They were the first to die, leaving behind a generation of orphans.

It’s a generation that’s never had a full belly. It’s a generation that has no idea what an Xbox did, or what algebra is for. It’s a generation of children who never laugh out loud, and who have learned to cry softly because the dead are always near and the dead are always so very, very hungry.

different but cute

Needed more zombie action and I didn't care for the ending, it felt inappropriate.

meh

it was OK. Bit of a struggle towards the end. Story seemed to keep spinning in place like it just wanted to fill up more time.

Not a Zombie story...

I’ve read several Zombie books and yes, most are either about how to kill, how the virus got spread, how people survived after, but this story was more about society and how people reverted back to old beliefs and a schizophrenic girl, who ends up becoming queen. At times the story was gripping, but most of the time I just had it as background noise. Downloaded this story after listening to Apocalypse Crusade and felt I had found a new apocalyptic author that would feed my hunger for all things zombie.

Great saga

Pretty good story, just keep waiting and hoping for Jillybeans death, what was a great character in the original works, is now one of the worst people I've ever known, fictional or real.

Honestly A Fantastic Series

I started the Gen Z series after completing the original Apocalypse series Mr. Meredith wrote. And while I did enjoy all of the Apocalypse books, Meredith clearly matured as an author and his friend honed skills are on brilliant display here. I cannot wait to get to the end of this series, so I can start the prequel 'Crusade' series.

~To The Family Of Peter Meredith,

Please accept my sincerest condolences. I was quiet literally left speechless when I recently read of his sudden passing last year. I hope the knowledge that his writing has, and will continue to enrich the lives of countless people provides you comfort and solace during this difficult time.

Thank You Peter! You were a truly great author!!

Sincerely,
Alex Hetes

great performance, meh ending

The first 2 books were great, the 3rd kind of dragged on an the main character put up with way too many offenses for someone who wants control. The ending was pretty weak.

Meh

I look to stories like this to escape reality. However, there are some things that are just too far to believe. It would seem that the only people to survive the apocalypse never finished middle school and must rely on equally ignorant children to save the day, even though it’s only been a decade since the end.
The ending was lazy and seemed as though the author was just done with the ordeal and needed to turn something in to the editor.
