Your brokenness is not the end of the story. It's time to heal.

Any of us can get stuck in our struggle. Jesus came to set us free and give us life—abundant life—but while we believe it for everyone else, it's hard to accept his forgiveness and grace for ourselves. We continue in our old ways, living as one with no hope because we're afraid of failing if we try to get better.

But what if brokenness—the array of behaviors and symptoms that show us that all is not as it should be with us—isn't all there is? What if we can change?

As a licensed therapist and a man who's dealt with his own problems—including childhood trauma, alcohol abuse, drug use, and bouts of depression—Jason VanRuler understands what you're going through. In Get Past Your Past, he offers empathy, grace, and a hand to hold as he shares from his own places of brokenness and his professional knowledge to help you:

  • Overcome the lie that you're the only one who struggles with brokenness
  • Look your brokenness square in the face and take small, doable steps to overcome it
  • Find the courage to be vulnerable about your story—all of it—and embrace the freedom that comes from sharing it
  • Learn to love and be loved in your most cherished relationships
  • Cultivate authentic connection with those around you and with God

The life you dream of isn't that far away. But you can't stay where you are. It's time to embark on your journey toward healing. Let Get Past Your Past be your guide along the way.

Concrete, Bagels, and A Song

At about the release of this book I was 2 months into recovery of my marriage. I had been reflecting on several points brought out by the book as well. The odd factor for me was not having remembered the release date to start reading, but after 3 days of constant grieving and crying to start the read. Already done with the reading—with plenty of crying and screaming/talking through Jason’s words and points—I have finally stopped crying….

Finally

Jason VanRuler is an excellent therapist. I have been following him on instagram for a while now. I’ve been pretty hard on myself for a long time. Jason has given me the courage to look at myself and have compassion.
This is a re-read whenever you need reinforcements.
Thank you for all you do!

An Absolute MUST

I discovered Jason on Instagram at the exact moment I needed him and his very wise words.

It was just after my partner of over three years and my fiancé ghosted me and left me paralyzed in hopeless misery.

Jason uses relatable analogies and anecdotes to help us see things in a new light. He welcomes us into a realm of security that allows us to admit the problems in our lives and recognize the goodness and worth we possess. He shares more personal stories in his book that I haven't seen on social media. It made me like him even more. As he became even more relatable and somehow gave me more hope for myself.

As a Christian, I love that he brings God into his conversation. It helps me to re-center myself and remember that I am loved.

Jason is genuine and inspired. I think EVERYONE should read his book, or at least follow him on Instagram! I can not recommend Jason and his insight enough!
