Publisher's summary

For Harmony Black, practicing witch and government agent, defeating criminal masterminds and eliminating supernatural threats are all in a day's work. She's ready to fight, as long as she can count on her partner, Jessie Temple; her team at off-the-books special FBI unit Vigilant Lock; and her magic. But her latest case threatens it all.

A high-profile bank robbery reveals thieves with the same unnatural strength and turquoise eyes as Jessie, who was touched by the King of Wolves. Jessie becomes unstable, struggling with her inner beast, and Harmony's magic is threatened by unexpected interference. Even worse, the women uncover a secret their own handler may kill to protect, forcing Vigilant Lock to go off the grid.

From the smoky back rooms of Washington, DC, inhabited by the crooked elite, to the astonishing high-rises of corrupt upper-crust Manhattan, Harmony and Jessie fight to uncover and halt a mass conspiracy threatening US soil in a race against time - and hell.

Great Listen!

Once again this team is going to have the opportunity to come up against the most difficult apponents. Jessie is taken by her mother, and Harmony’s paranormal abilities reatare diminished after being kissed by a succubus. A fast action story that keeps your head.spinning! The narration is great!

Oh snap

Another great book and performance. The next book not until October and so many loose ends to tie up. I do hate waiting.

Well designed and paced SN/SF

As supernat.scifi goes Schaefer puts together tight, slightly plausible fun-fiction. Harmony Black is a flawed protag who through now three in the series, faces down the evil that is parsed from beyond the temporal realm; demons, werewolves, sorcerers, and more, fight on both sides of the conflict. Bk 3 brings HB 1 step closer to “Cold Spectrum,” the unk black op that every black soldier seems willing to kill to keep black.

The Battle Within

What did you love best about Glass Predator?

I'm a sucker for stories told about characters in extremis. Both Harmony and Jessie's character are not just taken past their breaking point but actually broken. The question becomes can they put themselves together beat the enemies within and without.

What did you like best about this story?

How it stands on its own as wonderful series but is still a part of a large tapestry as ALL of Schaefer's books are connected. I really wish he hadn't told us that because I have spent countless hours trying to figure out the meta story and have all sorts of theories that need reincarnation characters from his Revanche Cycle being reborn but that's not here nor there.

Have you listened to any of Christina Traister’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She does a great job. I initially wanted the reader who did The Revanche cycle but she IS these characters now.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No to both. Schaefer normally does both but this is his first real suspense novel. I know it's cliché but listeners will really be on the edge of their seats and breathless by the time the ending rolls around.

Any additional comments?

When this series was announced I HATED it but bought it anyway to support one of my favorite authors. Here the thing she has an antagonistic relationship from the point of view of the character and that colored my view of the character. When the story told from her point of view she and her own cast create their own magic which is fitting given the story.

As a side note given where Faust is in his life, no spoilers will be posted here, she was right about him. I hope we eventually get a story where we see what she does about it.
