About this listen

It’s amazing how heavy the weight of emptiness can feel, how much room it can take up in our souls, how much pain can be caused by something that isn’t even there. But while we may see the emptiness of our lives as our greatest problem, that’s not how God sees it. When God looks into the empty places of our lives, He sees His greatest opportunity. God does His best work in the emptiness of our....

  • Insatiable craving for things that don’t satisfy
  • Relational disappointments and loneliness
  • Frustrated search for purpose and meaning
  • Relentless desire for comfort and security
  • Ongoing struggle to live with loss and unfulfilled dreams

Join Nancy Guthrie in discovering why emptiness has never been, and never will be, a problem to God. As Nancy pulls back the curtain on God’s work to fill up emptiness as revealed throughout the Bible, you’ll experience chapter after chapter of grace and hope that your emptiness can and will be filled. You’ll begin to see that God really does do His best work with empty - as he fills it with himself.

In a world that has convinced us that amassing wealth and stuff is the key to happiness… this book is necessary. Nancy helps unwind the consumerism that keeps us from deeply knowing the God that fulfills every single empty inch of our hearts.

Anyone who has lost health, wealth, love, status, or loved ones, know that this does not equal a loss of peace. I was so encouraged and brought to worship from this book. Nancy
Gutherie dives deeper into several Biblical accounts from the Old and New Testament and teaches from them how God used the blank slate from the life circumstances in these people's lives to make something beautiful. I will recommend this to friends and definitely will listen again.

Wonderful and thought provoking

I have stage 4 triple negative breast cancer. I was able to hear the Father’s word through this book and that helped bring me peace. I truly appreciate the author’s commentary with just enough old and New Testament references. I have actually listened to this audiobook for the 3rd time and definitely have already recommended it to my friends!

Great story, but she reads the book really weird with slow deliberation and draws out lots of the words

Narrative is really slow and enunciated

This book has been such a goldmine to be mined. I listen time & again letting her words soak into the broken places.
I've been widowed twice and in my 70s uprooted & moved 1500 miles to be near my son & his family. I suffer long-standing PTSD & was unprepared for how impactful so much change would prove to be. Nor was i aware of all the continued healing required in my grief & ensuing loneliness. So I have been doing a lot of reading. I came across this book and it has been such an encouragement. Nancy Guthrie has a way of articulating the cry of the heart. I highly recommend.

This book is not for me. The reader was very slow. I had to spread it up to 2x.
