Publisher's summary

Black Friday - the official opening of the Holiday Shopping Season - and Patrice Marcum is stuck in the middle of her local superstore with a crying infant, a near hysterical desire to just abandon the diapers and milk she desperately needs, and the snowstorm of the century dumping a half-foot of snow on the parking lot outside. She needs a miracle.

The little old lady seemed sweet, but there was no way Patrice was going to leave three-month old Jeremy with a stranger. She looked outside at the snow-covered parking lot and saw yet another distressed shopper's cart topple over in the drifts. The old lady sensed her distress and volunteered to call a store employee to help watch over Jeremy while Patrice got her car.

The older gentleman, wearing a store badge with the name “Ron,” seemed too good to be true. What could be safer? Less than five minutes later, after brushing the snow off the van and driving across the crowded and snow-packed parking lot, Patrice pulls up in front of the store. Jeremy is not there. Pushing back panic, she rushes into the store and looks around. Jeremy is not inside either. She pushes through the line at Customer Service, the associate calls Ron on the intercom, and issues a Code Adam. When Ron appears and he's only seventeen years old, Patrice realizes the worst. “Oh God! They've taken my baby!”

Mary O'Reilly, Private Investigator, is decorating her office for the holiday season when the newly installed bell over her door jingles. She looks over to see a six year-old boy standing next to her desk. His name is Joey Marcum and he wants to hire Mary to find his baby brother.

Mary nodded. "Okay, Joey, but I'll want to work with the police on this one. Do you have any problems with that?"

Joey paused. "No, I guess you can talk to them."

"That'll be helpful."

"But you can't tell my mom you're working for me," he said, "Promise?"

"Yes, I promise."

Joey shrugged. "I don't think she'd understand, seeing that I'm dead, you know."

Love the books!

Any additional comments?

I'm on book 5 in this series I love all the books. Terri Reid did a great job. There great mysteries. There's a love story - mystery without fowl language and sex. There just something you can really enjoy and listen anywhere. I love her books. The reader does a great job with the story. I hope there will be many more of her books

This series is more age appropriate for “tweens”

Very cute story line. But clearly written for younger readers. But, it was still a fun read as long as you remember that the author is targeting the younger reader.

Enjoyable paranormal mystery

This is the 2nd book in the Mary O'Reilly series-to be read in order. Although there appeared to be 2 to 3 stories in one, it was still an enjoyable paranormal mystery with a light touch of romance.

Love this series!

Perfect combination of several ghostly stories going on at once, bad guys, mystery. Not scary, but not corny either. I can't stop listening to find out what is going to happen. Almost like that old " Ghost Whisperer" show.

Another lovely Mystery with Mary and Bradly

I really enjoyed this Audible book and the continuing Story of Mary and the Chief of police. This story starts in Rockford, bu moves to Chicago where her family lives. Following information about where a kidnapped 3 month old little boy is. Brady is with Mary on this journey to fine the little guy and bring him home to his mother. Narrator does a lovely job with the characters voices and the entire storyline. Brings the story to life.

A good read!

I must be a dunderhead, I only rated the first novel two stars and it has been a long time lag between reading the books. Well, I am glad I did not take my rating seriously. I really enjoy this series. It is a very engaging. It is not a read that has you breathless or cringing in suspense. It is a mystery with an interesting story.

There will be a few gun shots, and if Terri follows her formula, the chief will be the one receiving the shots. Of course there are ghost, that is why we all picked up this story. There always be a ghost who is unaware they no longer have to pay taxes. There will be a chase, chasing the offender, being chased by the offender or some kind of ghost chase. There is no overt cussing or sex, so you put it down without fear that a preteen or teen will pick it up and read it.

Mary is an enjoyable character who is not a butt kicking woman on a mission to rid the world of all evil. Rather, she is a very pleasant woman of Irish descent who just happens to see ghosts. She comes from a loving family of law enforcers who loves her fiercely. She has arranged her life were she can still pursue her law enforcement skills while not being overwhelmed with ghost.

In this story you do not get an opportunity to hear from her BFFs, but you do get to meet her family. If you saw a tv show called, The Medium, this is very similar to that. I read one comment which feels that the books have a “formula” or predictable story line. Well, yeaaa. That is the same thing with many series. Yes, I expect Bradley to get shot, the question the circumstances in which in happens.

For this story the two little boys are the ones that caught my heart. It is the ending in this story, that I am listening to the third book in the series now.

If you ask yourself why I did not give the book all 5 stars? Because I am a kick butt woman with the power to blow things up. :)

Good Tidings

Narrator does better singing than performing. Some cheesy parts. Overall not bad. Giving it one more shot in the series before I give up on it.
