Aida Rodriguez has, to put it mildly, lived a whirlwind life. Her rags-to-riches story is mind-blowing: She was kidnapped as a child by her mother in the Dominican Republic and brought to the US. She was later kidnapped again by her grandmother and uncle and moved from New York to Florida. As an adult, she ended a difficult marriage and endured homelessness with her children in Los Angeles. But through it all she never lost her sense of humor.

Story
Like thousands of Aboriginal children in the United States, Canada, and elsewhere in the colonized world, Xatsu'll chief Bev Sellars spent part of her childhood as a student in a church-run residential school. These institutions endeavored to "civilize" Native children through Christian teachings; forced separation from family, language, and culture; and strict discipline. In this frank and poignant memoir of her years at St. Joseph's Mission, Sellars breaks her silence about the residential school's lasting effects on her and her family and eloquently articulates her own path to healing.

Most inspiring story of hope and blessings that’s out there
This story is amazing. I have a friend that knows Selah personally, and the work that selah and her family are doing all over the world is so inspiring. This book is so good, I could not put it down. I will be following Selah Godfrey’s work and helping her any way I can.

Disappointed.
Having known Selah and the family who sacrificed tremendously to bring her and her siblings here to TN. I was very saddened to listen her disparaging account of her experiences after coming to the states. Her adoptive family has been and still is loving, gracious , generous and selfless just for a start. I know she suffered greatly in Liberia , so it isn't surprising that her actions through the years may have been viewed as ungrateful as she described.I can say in all honesty that the depiction of events described as abuse , neglect or mistreatment by her adoptive parents was either greatly inflated or just untrue all together.
