Nearly brought me to tears

This book was not that long, but beautifully written and wonderfully recorded. I was glad that this book dealt with hard and brutal topics, and I was quite impressed with the care that was taken to write about it. This story was so beautiful, romantic, erotic, and sincere that I nearly cried. This book is the first in a long while to invite such strong emotion from me, and I loved every minute of the journey.

A Sweet M/M Fantasy Romance

I enjoyed the world-building of this story in particular. While the love interest is a bit annoying and pouty, the performer does a good job of distinguishing between the characters.

Great story

This was a great story and well performed. I sort of wish he had ended up with the innkeeper instead.

Surprisingly engaging!!

Honestly I went in with modest expectations, but I was deeply entertained by the competent plot and extremely likable characters. I hope to read more by Fielding, and I LOVED the narrator. His accent work in particular is lovely and very sexy. 10/10.

Wow. Just brilliant

My new dream team. Fielding did an amazing job with this. Greg Tremblay is the best! One of my most fave narrators. His cadence & subtleties with the spoken word are always wonderful. I only wish this book were longer or perhaps part of a series. Great effort, most appreciated!

Loved Greg Tremblay's Performance

This story seemed much longer than just three and a half hours. The story is told in first person POV by a palace guard, Volos. The narrator did a great job of conveying the thoughts and emotions of Volos. Good world building but be warned: there are several rape scenes which, although part of the plot, may be too dark for some readers.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

This is the first audio I listen to by Mr. Tremblay and I enjoyed it immensely. The accents were spot on where they needed be. His voice was pleasant and didn't make huge differences between the characters, making it a pleasant experience. I hope the next Mr. Tremblay audio I listen to will be as pleasant as this one. Well done!
The story itself was quite enjoyable as well. There were descriptions that made me cringe but perhaps were needed to be there to get the right visual (?), which is something I don't want to 'see'. Besides the two different times of 'that' description, the rest of the story was smooth and easy to read. Well done, Ms. Fielding!

Opposites attract

The candence was nice and it was clear. It made the story enjoyable and I could have happily sat and listened to the narrator all day.

The story was interesting. This descrimination Volos experienced and him just living through it showed how strong a person he was. The fact that he never flew off the rail helped build up his character and I kind of grew attached to him because of it. The prince wasn't very likable. That being said his rape was a bit hard to hear about. Volos kind of bearing witness was also a bit harsh to stomach.

Their coping mechanism left a bit to be desired since the two were hurting each other.

I also wished that the innkeeper Mateo (not sure of the spelling because it was in audio) had had a chance. I kind of hope there would be a side story for him.

Spot-on Narration by Greg Tremblay!!!

Is there a Kim Fielding book I haven't liked? Looking at my past reviews I only spot two three-star books and many four- and five-star reads.

This was no different! Kim Fielding can certainly pack a punch in a short number of pages. Where some authors barely scratch the surface of a character in 300 pages, Fielding gives us a rich mine to work with.

Abduction

A guard who has lusted after his prince gets his HEA.

My rec? If you can stomach a vicious rape scene, YES!!
