About this listen

Trapped in an RPG...or a Virtual Prison?

When Eric and friends secretly log onto the new Tower of Gates fully immersive virtual reality MMORPG against his father's wishes, they spawn separately throughout the game. Eric finds Sarah easily enough, but they can't find Josh, their remaining party member. Unable to escape or even pause the game, Eric and Sarah work together to find Josh. They meet a colorful cast of characters along the way, including a priest named Benji. Unsure what happens when you die, they vow to be careful with who they trust. While Benji and others they meet seem harmless enough, a strange mage in black vows to kill them. Can they stay alive and complete the first few levels of the Tower of Gates? Or will they suffer the fate of others who have died inside the game? Hack is the first book of the Tower of Gates LitRPG Saga. Previously published as the first half of Goblin.

Naration nominally "glitchy" More important, book has a 2 pov story line, one male and one female. I got lost because I didn't know who was speaking/thinking. I'd have to go back to chapter beginning to see if Eric or Sarah was pov. A little frustrating. I saw Kindle version was free. I was going to buy all and read till I found out the rest weren't free. I guess I can borrow them one at a time (I'm at limit).
This is all to say I'd take extra effort to get books in a different format than listen to the current narrator for Audible version

Bad Choice for Computer Narration.

Execution of plot That's not the greatest. Just feel story could have been better. fill

Idea behind plot is good.

the main problem with this is the AI reading. I've read the first two books in this series, and I really enjoyed the story, but the AI reading it hard to get past. If you can though the story gets more interesting.

It's a good story but...

Not enough to just listen to a book. You want to feel something from the characters which an AI just is not

AI voice reading lifeless
