Publisher's summary

Off the coast of southern Florida, a deadly war is being waged that threatens our national security. Thousands of kilos of illicit drugs are dumped on our shores annually. But "business as usual" takes a quite different turn when Sandra Geffar and Ian Hardcastle (heads of the U.S. Customs Department and the Coast Guard respectively) put their departmental and personal squabbles behind them and team up in a daring plan to put an end to airborne smuggling. The operation is dubbed "Hammerheads", and it proposes nothing less than to fight the Colombian cartel with the latest hi-tech weaponry available, until the smugglers up the ante.

Abridged version

This version is the abridged version and far far too short. Many of the main elements of the story were skipped over

Fun Story

Pretty good book. Exciting stuff in it. Classic Dale Brown thriller about USA's war on drugs. I read/listened the abridged version and the length was just about right. The book contains a lot of characters and (abridged) it doesn't develop any of them very well--a trade off from lengthy discussion. And, I suppose it's a boy book: lots of fun explosions and much technical data.

Poor reading

Would you try another book from Dale Brown and/or Joseph Campanella?

I love Dale Brown, in a full book. Abridged leaves something to be desired. The reader is terrible. I know 8 year olds who could do a better job.

If you’ve listened to books by Dale Brown before, how does this one compare?

It was not his best

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Joseph Campanella?

Scott Brick, Dick Hill

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

It was too painful to listen to the whole thing.

Story incomplete!

This audiobook is incomplete. only the first three chapters is read. the rest of the story is not available. I will give hammerheads book as one of the best books I have read. Get this book.
BUT the audiobook is terrible! DONOT was your time on it. There is no reason that this book should be cut to three chapters. Take your time and give this a thumbs down.

Short

Way too short. There are huge plot holes. Not worth the money. Its not part of any series so you wont miss anything.

Wish it was unabridged

Would you try another book from Dale Brown and/or Joseph Campanella?

Only if the book was unabridged

If you’ve listened to books by Dale Brown before, how does this one compare?

I enjoy the writings of Dale Brown but listening to one that is abridged is not worth the time of money.

How could the performance have been better?

Only if the book was unabridged

Horrible Disappointment - Save Your Money/Credits

I read the paperback book years ago and this audio version was horrible. The description did not state that this was an abridged version but it was even worse than that. This was an abridged version of an abridged version. If I recall correctly, the book had a very detailed plot that intertwined the scourge of the drug trade and military hardware technology. If I could return this one I would and that is saying a whole bunch, since I have been an audible subscriber for years and never once returned a book nor wrote a bad review. Save your money or credits and get something better.
