About this listen

The long-awaited new entry in Wen Spencer’s popular Tinker series.

The war against the oni heats to a flashpoint even as Tinker learns that the enemy has a dangerous new weapon, the nactka. What’s more, the Stone Clan has sent its most famous warlords, the Harbingers, to take control of the allied war effort. Are these elves friends or foes? Tinker’s newfound baby siblings are up for grabs. The babies, though, are wood sprites and aren’t going to take things lying down. Team Mischief go!

“Each and every character is fascinating, extraordinarily well-developed, and gets right under your skin.... A terrific, memorable story.” (Julie E. Czerneda, author of In the Company of Others)

“Spencer takes her readers on a fast-paced journey into disbelief. [Her] timing is impeccable and the denouement stunning.” (Romantic Times, four-star review)

“Wonderfully inventive...a fun protagonist.” (Locus)

Need More Tinker

Tanya Eby is not the best reader for this story. At times all the characters sound the same.
While I luv the Tinker series I wish I didn't have to wait 6 years between books.
Overall this is a fun and unique series.

fking cliffhanger!

Great book but I'm so pissed off that it ends on a cliffhanger. None of the other books end like that!

Inventive storytelling

And inventive and gripping story of a world, caught between earth and Elfhome, with humans, elves, tengu and a monstrous enemy fighting for control of Elfhome.

Great Story, but What Happened Tanya?

The story is amazing as always, but Tanya didn't deliver her normal amazing read. Many, MANY names were pronounced differently and there's less emotion in the character voices in the past. The voices are different, which is to be expected since so much time has passed, but I would have thought a quick listen in any of the previous books could have helped with at least how names are pronounced. Tanya, you're amazing, but this is not your best work.

Side Characters

You waited 8 year for a Tinker story will this book has that in chapters (like 5) but who cares about that They have Side Characters.

Like her sisters and bother,

and her cousin oil can he is here to,

and that one tv show producer that marrying that one dude,

and the hooker turn elf princess,

and the girl hunter who’s a spy,

and the cat man mob boss ,

that’s a lot of POV’s.

But all jokes it’s a good batch Characters and chapters but the book needs another 20 hours to get all the things that need to be said done. it’s a good start. But it needs to be like broken up into separate books to get a full story in I will for sure be buying more of her books and never switch readers

Harbinger is a masterful piece of work!

I have read the book about 6 times and listened to the audio copy about the same amount.
"Harbinger" seamlessly steps into place in the series timeline. Then it swoops down to collect the back story from "Project Elhome" and expands the plot.
There is a lot going on and its all fascinating. The book stirs your mind and makes you start think about how these puzzle pieces fit together. It makes you think and wonder about the Skin Clan.
Namely the last known child of the Skin Clan was Heaven's Blessing... Why?
For over an Eon the Skin Clan has played its twisted game on Elfhome and Onehida.
Yet there are so very few of the powerful Greater Blood like Heaven's Blessing...Why?
Then the brief introduction to Sunder stating that Sunder is a Huir. Being that is both male and female at the same time.
So much ground to cover and the story just gets better and better!
I am anxious to read the next book!*

Another winner in the Elfhome series

Despite the negative reviews, I found this book to be exactly what was needed to get to the next level of the story. Enough background in the day to let everyone know what is happening and to anticipate what is coming. Excellent story, excellent narration. So looking forward to the next book!

Another fun book

This is another great book in the Elfhome series. Like some others, I was curious about the changes in pronunciation by the narrator. I also initially felt like a lot of time was spent on side stories, however, on further reflection found that the additional storylines helped make the world much more vivid in my imagination. I am especially fond of PB&G, Law, and Brisbane.
Eagerly anticipating the next book!!

Please don’t wait 6 more years for the next one

I don’t want to have to wait another 6 years for the next book in the series esp when you end it with a cliffhanger. This is one of my favorite series. I think you had to much focus on the side characters I would have wanted to hear more from tinker or the twins.

Pronunciation differences mar the story

A number of proper names are pronounced differently from how those same names in other books she recorded in this series.
The story is a well written and welcome addition to the series and I look forward to at least a couple more books in this series.
