A damsel in distress...

The day of a young woman's wedding should be the happiest day of her life, but for Aylen Ware, it is the worst. Raised from a young age in a secret splinter sect of the Fundamentalist Mormon Church, Aylen has spent her life suppressing her true self and living in constant fear of violence and abuse. The Elders of the Church claim that she has been chosen to be the 18th bride of a man three times her age and renowned for his cruelty, but Aylen has other ideas. Mere minutes before her wedding, she runs, knowing that she will fail in her flight unless she can find someone to help her...

An unlikely prince...

Half-naked and passed out drunk on a motel bed, Carter Hudson doesn’t seem like a knight in shining armor. Covered in tattoos and piercings, and distinctly disheveled, he frightens Aylen more than a little bit...but appearances can be deceiving. As Aylen runs with Carter's help, she discovers that beneath the rough surface is a scarred young man who has had his own curses and triumphs - and that he is full of surprises. Like his music. And his money. And his fame. Oh...and also his internationally acclaimed rock band. Still, as the two grow closer Aylen discovers they are more alike than not, and finds her feelings for him changing from the wary...to the wicked.

A fairy tale ending...?

But Aylen's past will not let go easily: men from the Church are tracking her, determined to take her back to the cult and a life of misery and servitude. Will the bond between her and Carter be enough to escape the evil that follows her, or is her curse so strong that not even love can defeat it?

Hard Rock Remix is a stand-alone novel.

3.5 DISAPPOINTED STARS - I HATE TO SAY IT BUT....

After the success of book 1 in the series I was expecting something equally as good from this second instalment and, whilst it was an ok listen, it unfortunately lacked so much that book 1 had... such as sizzling chemistry, humor, friendship and hot sex scenes. As 18 yr old runaway bride Aylen hides from her Father (and the religious sect) with sexy Lead Guitarist Carter and they slowly journey home her naivety, constant refererring to her total lack of knowledge of life and her flashbacks got very repetitive.

Don't get me wrong, this book was fairly enjoyable, and necessary if you intend to follow the series, but it was much slower than book 1, it lacked the humor, lacked the great chemistry the rest of the band have with each other, lacked passionate hot sex scenes and lacked any updates to Rebecca and Kent's love life... in fact when they were briefly mentioned Kent came across as cold. Without giving spoilers there were a few scenes that just didn't fit and I didn't feel the sparks between Aylen and Carter but Carter was thoughtful, kind, helpful and protective as Aylen's fate and future lay in his hands.

Worth the credit? As I've said, it was ok with a very very slow building romance, could be a stand-alone listen and, as I hope to follow the series, I suppose it was worth using a credit on.

I love when an author takes me to a world that i'm not familiar with and fanatical mormons is way off.

Lacked the Chemistry from Book One

This book was good but unfortunately lacked the chemistry evidant in book one. Though this was unique with a heroine from a religious cult meeting up with the band's lead guitarist, it felt awkward at times. You'll definitely want to listen to this as part of the series but it's my least favorite.

Seems like the author gave up at the end

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

someone who is not really in to the ending as much as the story

What could Ava Lore have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I actually loved most of the book, however the end was abrupt and could have been handled better. The entire book is this cult girl escaping the church and learning to be normal, as a reader it was refreshing to see such a different character... and then they lived happily ever after. That's it. No growing pains. No adjustment. No transition. How does one go from being kidnapped and attacked to "chillin'"?

Which character – as performed by Lauren Sweet – was your favorite?

Anna

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

All but the last 3 chapters

The narrator wrecked the whole book.

I really like the first book but who picked this narrator made a big mistake. But even the book was boring. I had to fast forward just to try and get through the book. I hate it when they have a series and then change the reader. I don't know if I want to download book 3 since I was so disappointed in book 2.

Disappointed

Would you try another book from Ava Lore and/or Lauren Sweet?

Yes, the first book in this series was great and this book had a good story line, just too much of non-essential details.

If you’ve listened to books by Ava Lore before, how does this one compare?

Too much of Aylen and not enough about Carter

Do you think Hard Rock Remix needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, from Carter's point of view
