About this listen

Everything has a price, and the price of truth is steepest of all.

Eden has an ironclad five-year plan. In three months, she's saying good riddance to Los Angeles and returning to the Pacific Northwest for medical school. Nothing is going to get in her way. Nothing... but the impossible.

When she glimpses her doppelgänger at a party, the seemingly accidental meeting turns her life in a direction she never imagined, shredding everything she knows about herself and where she comes from.

The one constant in her collapsing world is Liam Rourke, a man whose dark desires are matched only by his tenderness. But Liam is more than a master in the bedroom - he's a master of lies. Uncovering the truth might cost Eden her love, her family, and her life. Some things are worth dying for.

Contains mature themes.

Decent

Male narrator only does a short epilogue at the end, female narrator is decent. Story will make you laugh a little and cry a lot. I hate how many times they are separated, a little of it feels like just a way to make the book longer. I like to read authors notes and reviews on Goodreads before listening to a book. That has given me more info than audible for possible triggers, BDSM, detailed reviews etc. This starts slow, but does have more detailed spice as the book goes on. It contains BDSM, PTSD, rape, violence etc but has an HEA.

LOVED LOVED LOVED!!!

I wasn't expecting this book. I grabbed it on a whim when nothing else was doing it for me. OH my did I hit the jackpot!! I will admit at first I was a little confused with the jumping around. I really thought oh I'm not going to be able to follow, I was wrong. It was so interesting and intense that I completely forgot my original hesitation. This one has everything and not one moment feels forced. Normally I'm disappointed when I think it's two narrators but one only does the epilogue. However Emma Wilder nailed it with every voice. Aaron Shedlock has a sexy voice and he was a nice touch at the end but I honestly didn't miss him during the story. I only decided to post so maybe it'll help someone else in a reading rut. This is my first book by L.M Halloran but I'm going back for more.

Enjoyed

I did enjoy this book even though I not realize it had a Dom-Sub relationship or I would have skipped. I also though it was a male/female narration however it was only female until the epilogue. Emma did do an excellent job even though I was dissappointed that Aaron was only in the last 30 minutes. I dont understand why Audible would list him first as a narrator when he is not in the story at all. With that being said, I am glad I listened to the story overall. I just wish I would have known these facts before hand with so many books out there to listen to.

Wow!

Wow is the first thing that came to mind as soon as the book finished. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, it would take turn in a completely different direction. This was my first L. M. Halloran book so I was not familiar with author but I am glad I took a chance.

Emma Wilder did an excellent job of narrating and really brought Eden and Liam to life. Her voice was smooth and not choppy like some other narrators. I have enjoyed everything I have listened to of hers.

unexpected

I stumbled onto this book by luck. I have to admit it took several chapters for me to actually get engaged. It bounced back and forth between past and present. However, when I got used to the rhythm of the writer I quickly became intrigued with the characters. Loved the twists and turns. I would love to listen to more from this author.

⭐️F⭐️A⭐️N⭐️T⭐️A🔥S🔥T🔥I🔥C🔥!!

The writers synopsis does not even come close to how involved and hands down great this story is!!!
Mystery, intrigue, gangsters, lies, torture, hot as f**k sex, good guys, bad guys, global chase, ....and a HEA!! I think I just found my new favorite author!! Seriously this is one of the top three best stories of the year!!!
I really bought this because of Aaron Sherlock, which he only narrates the Epilogue! It really pisses me off when audible does that! BUT Emma is amazing on her own so no star deductions !!!
Get this book it is a MUST!!!

Stick with it

In the beginning it jumps around a bit but it catches up and everything comes together in the end. This was a really good book and the narrators did an excellent job! Worth the credit.

Pretty Good - Great Story line

Great story line. Had potential to be 5 stars if female lead acted like the intelligent academic she was described as. Great twists and turns. Emma Wilder narrates the entire book, she did a nice job.. Shedlock narrates just the epilogue. Too bad, he has a wonderful voice and it would’ve been nice to hear more of him. I found the female lead/Eden to be naive and simply stupid trusting strangers after all that had happen to her. Her anger toward Liam toward the end, after all he did for her was awful. She came off as an ungrateful bitch. It’s worth a credit because the story is very good. Warning ....triggers... rape and torture.
