About this listen

Jim Dale's Grammy Award-winning performance of J.K. Rowling's iconic stories is a listening adventure for the whole family.

'You are sharing the Dark Lord's thoughts and emotions. The Headmaster thinks it inadvisable for this to continue. He wishes me to teach you how to close your mind to the Dark Lord.'

Close your eyes and enter the magical world of Harry Potter. In these editions, Jim Dale's characterful narration is so entertaining, fun, and theatrical you can almost hear the crackle of the fire in the Gryffindor common room.

Dark times have come to Hogwarts. After the Dementors' attack on his cousin Dudley, Harry Potter knows that Voldemort will stop at nothing to find him. There are many who deny the Dark Lord's return, but Harry is not alone: a secret order gathers at Grimmauld Place to fight against the Dark forces. Harry must allow Professor Snape to teach him how to protect himself from Voldemort's savage assaults on his mind. But they are growing stronger by the day and Harry is running out of time...

Having become classics of our time, the Harry Potter stories never fail to bring comfort and escapism. With their message of hope, belonging and the enduring power of truth and love, the story of the Boy Who Lived continues to delight generations of new listeners.

Good story and good performance

although this wasn't my favorite book, it was entertaining. The Narrator did a better job not making Hermione sounding so whiney.

Narrator is annoying

The narrator is really annoying. He gives teenage kids deep gravelly voices, every female professor sounds like a drunken leprechaun, and Narcissa and Bellatrix are SISTERS but somehow Bellatrix has a French accent? Not to mention all the words he mispronounces.

Magical

I discovered Harry Potter at an advanced stage in my life. Although the books were released while I was growing up, I started listening to them when I was well over 30 years old. This being said, I can definitely appreciate what the author did here With each individual book and also with the series as a whole. I love the characters, I cared for them throughout these adventures and I also love the beautiful writing.
The narration is perfect. I went so far to also create a UK audible account in order to Listen to the other versions available. I love both Jim Dale and Stephen Fry, I think it depends on how exactly you want your performance to be delivered and for which of them you are in the mood at a specific time.
This is the journey of true friends, a story of friendship and a story of how good must always conquer over evil.
The Harry Potter saga has quickly become one of my all-time favorite series and even after listening to more than 1400 audiobooks, I return every year to spend time again and again with Harry, Ron, Hermione and all the other colorful characters brought to life by the mind of J. K. Rowling.

The action heats up

Any additional comments?

I love Harry Potter books. They are so imaginative and entertaining. The audible version is very well done. Jim Dale is a greater reader. It doesn't matter that I know the story so well (I have read the books and watched the movies), the audible version was still gripping and enjoyable. Rowling is truly a talented story teller. In my opinion, this book is where Rowling puts her foot to the gas pedal on the trip to the finish.
