About this listen

Paige has only a few vivid memories of her mother, who abandoned her when she was five. Now, having left home and her father for dreams of art school and marriage to an ambitious young doctor, Paige finds herself with a child of her own. Emotionally and physically exhausted, overwhelmed by the demands of her family, Paige cannot forget her mother’s absence or the shameful memories from her own past. Her next step would have been unthinkable before her doubts about her maternal ability crept into her mind. Is it possible Paige’s baby would be better off without her?

This book was well performed but overall disappointing. The story ends abruptly and I have to admit I felt a little cheated! I invested how many hours and at the end I felt there needed to be another chapter.

I don't recommend this book.

Disappointing Book

Would you try another book from Jodi Picoult and/or Kate Harper and Garrick Hagon ?

I simply could not listen to more than an hour of this audio book. Kate Harper's voice drones on in a way that is really not pleasant. Her 'male' voices are positively bizarre in their extremely low and slow tones - almost sounding distorted. Eventually I just closed the book down and couldn't go on.

Would you be willing to try another book from Jodi Picoult? Why or why not?

Yes

How did the narrator detract from the book?

See above. Ruined everything for me. I had just finished The Story Teller and I was so excited for this one.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I'm sure it did, but I couldn't suffer through the narration.

Any additional comments?

I have tried to return this book, without success. Please help!

Narrator ruined this for me entirely
