Great instruction & very interesting this book!

The book is a great breakdown is a simplistic and easy to listen and understand blueprint for learning about Buddhism. Being new to Buddhism myself, this book lays the groundwork for how to begin living a more grounded and Buddhist. I very much enjoyed this course and the performance by Darren Schilling. He does have a distinct almost lyrical voice, but I felt it added to the teaching. I'm going through a tough time and would be feeling depressed but when I started to listen to this recording I'd automatically feel better and more at peace.

The Concepts of Buddhism

Thompson does a great job of highlighting the basics of Buddhism. I was thoroughly impressed that the author was able to introduce everyday actions and ideas to help improve your principal way of life. He places emphasis that Buddhism is not a religion, but a life choice. Originally, I downloaded a sample of the book. I didn't get that much out of the sample. After completing the sample there was some information about a podcast by the author. I decided to give it a listen while working around the house.

Renewed my interest.

I think I've finally discovered the elusive decoder ring. Over the years, I've listen a lot of Buddhist scriptures, but I'm just now starting to practice. They can be completely daunting, but this compiles the essential concepts to get you started. It helped me grasp concepts that had previously eluded me or frightened me away. I now view other texts with a higher degree of comprehension. Thank you Lee for this book. It was a first step in a transition that completely changed my life.

Nice work Lee!

Lee H. Thompson a good job in this book explaining Buddhism in the most plain and simple ways possible. Being rather knowledge on Buddhism it didn't teach me much, however I wish I would have had his book years ago when I first started studying Buddhism. I recommend this book to anyone who wishes to learn about Buddhism. I recommend this book to anyone who wishes to learn about Buddhism. Great work Mr. Lee.

Good insight to the Buddhist religion

This audible answer beginner fundamental questions about Buddhism in plain simple English. speaks clearly and at just the right speed. I just finished but intend to repeat it. This was a good introduction for a layperson. Easy to follow and pleasant performance. I especially enjoyed learning more about the different schools of Buddhism. Beautifully simple audio-book with a key to peace inside. Very informative and good for beginners in Buddhism. Thank you!

Quick listen and great reference

One of the many beginner Buddhism books I've listen. Personally, It's ideal for a beginner who wants to get a quick overview of the Buddha's teachings and practices in a "crash course." It's also perfect for someone who is still practicing but needs a refresher. I think it would be fantastic if you and a friend each had a copy and decided to debate/discuss it because it is very easy to reference and go back and forth, and you wouldn't mind re-listening it over and over to imprint it in your mind. A list of other books in the back gives you a good glimpse into the author's teachings and where they come from, and the index in the back is also helpful. This is a fantastic book that I want to keep with me for the time being.

Accessible intro to buddhism!

This is a good introduction for people with little or no understanding. I like how many questions were answered plainly instead of using vague metaphors. very informative no matter how advanced or wherever you are on your path to enlightenment, this book is perfect..to the point and briefly but completely explains most questions a beginner may have. I really liked this for learning about buddhism. very informative and in a way easy to understand for people who don't know anything about it.

Best purchase ever!

I'm completely enamored with this book. Because of our daily busy lives, I couldn't put this book down because it is beautifully written and really opens the mind and soul to various facets of existence that we somewhere subconsciously think about but don't give it a thought consciously. The author is well-informed and objective about Buddhist teachings, but he also leaves it up to the listener to interpret them from their own perspective, as we all have different life experiences. You will not be disappointed if you give it a try. Have fun listening!
