About this listen

Border patrol agents are being ambushed along the Big Bend region of West Texas, a notorious drug corridor running east and west across the Lone Star State. They’re not the only targets. A film production depicting human trafficking in the area has been attacked by a brutal drug cartel.

Into this lawless frontier steps Texas Ranger Sonny Hawke, ready and willing to dispense his own brand of justice. It’s an all-out war with the thinnest line separating the good from the bad. Sonny knows the only way out is to aim straight and stand your ground....

This is a modern Day Texas Ranger book. The drug Cartel has crooked cops working with them. Sonny Hawke goes across the border trying to find the people responsible. There on the border bringing drugs across. I enjoyed this book but it's hard to keep up with all the bad guys and who's who. Trust no one. You have to pay close attention to keep up with everything. The drug cartel controls the cops by threatening there family's. Sonny Hawke is a tough, smart Ranger. There is some tense moments. Jeff Brick and Rene Ruiz did a good job narrating this book. Fast Moving Action

Amazing how powerfully controlling and evil a small sized female could be. One wonders if this fictional story could be reality south of the Texas border. Could not stop listening. Loved Wortham’s descriptive words.

Justice always prevails

A fun ride, but suspension of disbelief is occasionally difficult.

The crusade against a huge drug cartel by the protagonist and his close associates pushes against the bounds of rationality. Also, there is off-screen action that is alluded to but the results of which are never really seen.

This book is about action, not really character, and Wortham is at his best when concentrating on character. It's not bad, but it's not really what I was hoping for.

Thrills, but weak story

I looked forward to this book coming up on my queue, but when it did, I found myself disappointed. The story started off slow and, at least to where I closed the book, never picked up. There was lots of graphic violence to show how bad the cartel was, but that was to be expected. I would have powered through but for the fact that the reader who did the cartel was terrible. I got to where I dreaded those important parts of the book. It's too bad because the reader for Hawke actually was good for that character. I would have given the Hawke reader 4 stars and the cartel reader 0 stars if I could. The 2 stars is a simple averabe

I gave this story 3 stars and didn't return the book for one reason: the two aunts. No spoiler here, but their appearance made the book worth the listen, at least to that point.

Two readers, too bad
