A Sport Thriller You Won't Put Down…

He's the fixer for the world's most elite athletes. But his own mind is his biggest threat.

Dr. Andrew Beck is the golden boy of sports psychology. He's a celebrity shrink, the go-to whisperer for millionaire athletes battling trauma, addiction, and the crushing weight of expectation. From violent hockey stars to reckless power forwards, Andrew coaxes them back from the brink and into championship form.

He's got the perfect life: a beautiful wife, a house in Greenwich, an office on Central Park West, and a front-row seat to the world of professional sports. But beneath the veneer of success lurks a darkness Andrew can't outrun.

Haunted by the ghost of his own shattered athletic dreams and the twisted legacy of his abusive champion golfer father, Andrew finds himself drawn to a high-stakes world far removed from therapy sessions. A world of illegal gambling rings, ruthless operators, and a dangerous secret that could shatter his entire life.

A desperate wager. A brutal murder. A game of life and death played with the highest stakes.

Headcase: Shock & Denial is a gripping sport psychological thriller that plunges you into the dark underbelly of professional athletics. It's a story of ambition, betrayal, and the demons that lurk behind the bright lights of victory.

Fabulous Story Excellent Writer

If you are searching for a book that you can sink your teeth into, I highly suggest Headcase by Chris Jones. There are so many books these days that merely tell a story, and some are merely interesting or captivating reads. Such books rate between a 3–4-stars, but what brings a story to a 5-star rating lies within its depth. It should not only tell a good story but have interesting, three-dimensional characters, subliminal meaning that connect characters and events, and an author who possesses the art of interesting diction and crafty story-telling skills. Headcase enjoys all of these qualities. The protagonist is a sports psychologist with issues that are similar to those of his clients and while he’s able to help them, he is oblivious to his own flaws. The characters are so well-developed I couldn’t help feeling as though I knew them… I could certainly see them vividly. The narration is also of 5-star quality. I am amazed at how many accents and different voices P.J Ochlan is able to master. One final note is that you don’t have to be into sports to enjoy this book. While it’s about a sports psychologist, there are few play-by-play scenes. This is an enthusiastic five stars!!!
