Need to know what happens!

At first I did not realize that this was part of a series. I was extremely happy when I did because this audiobook left me wanting more.

It is a short story about a mother telling what had happened to them. Why they are where they are.

I am going to have to get the other books as soon as I can!

Excellent addition to the series

A marvelous look into the background of some favorite characters from the Ceo San series. This is an excellent story that deserved to be told. I received a free review copy of the audio version of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Interesting prequel

Definitely a short set up couple chapters. Interesting premise of a magical world. The narration could have been a bit better in terms of differences between characters. Overall a decent listening experience, we’ll see how the next book goes.

Parents: nothing super off putting or mature content. If it were a movie it’s probably be rated G.

don't you love a good back story?!

Ain't these little prequel tidbits tasty?

If you're thinking about this title, chances are good you've read/heard Raven Thrall, the novel that took me humming down the Ceo San road. Once again narrated by the wonderful ☆LYNN NORRIS☆, this little gem fills us in on the origin story of Shira, the human-to-bear Ceo San whose daring exploits and juicy character made her anything but a sidekick in Raven Thrall. Now we learn what her parents, their friends, and her grandfather gave up to keep that precocious little bear cub/baby safe, so she could play a pivotal role in the liberation of the Ceo San 20 years later.

Just makes the stew that much richer! You'll be glad you went there, not least to get another taste of Lynn Norris's vocal gifts. Have fun!

A prelude to the world of Raven Thrall

The most excellent book Raven Thrall small weakness is some of the beginnings. This short story brings the past into the present of Raven's Thrall and gives context to one of the very important co-protagonist of the story. At the same time, it gives texture and background so one understands the setting of the these stories world as a whole. As in Raven Thrall Lynn Norris' narration is outstanding and gives even more life to a very enjoyable listen.

Great back story for Raven Thrall

The story itself was terrific. Rose's story helped define both her and her daughter's characters for me. Now I want to go back and read Raven Thrall again!

Good

After listening to this story I found it to be interesting, food for thought sort of thing. Having no one to help. The narration was very good.

A Mother's Dilemma

This story is about a mother who has a baby that is a shifter. Being born a shifter immediately results in the child being confiscated by the king and drafted into his army as a virtual slave. Keeping her child who keeps changing into a bear cub at the most inopportune moments becomes increasingly impossible and the mother is left with difficult and complicated decisions.

The author really does a very nice job of portraying the whole dilemma with realistic, well rounded characters, a good use of English and a sense of empathy for her characters. The pacing of the story is good and never drags at any point.

Sound quality is clear and the narrator does an adequate job.

This is a stand alone work, although it does reference other books in the series. No prior knowledge of the series is required.
