About this listen

The god of love has sworn off dating. Too bad he’s just met his perfect match….

Valentine is the guardian angel of love, the last of his kind defending the world from the forces of darkness. That means no distractions, no dating, and certainly no falling in love. But when a mortal re-awakens his heart, she proves to be his greatest strength, and his only weakness….

Elle has always had a disastrous love life. But when her date turns into a vampire, she realizes she’s hit a new low. Saved by a winged warrior, and pursued by an army of bloodsuckers, Elle follows her guardian angel into a world of magic and adventure. But as he sets her heart racing, she learns there’s just one problem. He’s forbidden from falling in love….

Thrown into a world of vampires, witchcraft, and warring Greek gods, they find themselves in a race against time to stop an ancient evil from destroying their worlds. But as sparks fly on and off the battlefield, they learn the light in their hearts could be the key to defeating the darkness. Or it could be the source of their destruction….

Heart Breaker is an enemies-to-lovers, urban fantasy vampire slayer romance, and the third book in Sons of Olympus—a new adult paranormal romance series that combines Greek gods with contemporary romance tropes. Perfect for fans of feel-good magical romance!

angel of love that 's forbidden to love

Valentine was for me a perfect hero. But to do the things he did and know that he could not have love broke my heart. Valentina and Elle were thrown together into a world of vampires, witchcraft, and warring Greek gods. This alone was enough to send a girl running like her hair was on fire. The two had race against time to stop an evil from destroying the world.

Ash and Ember were my favorite couple from the series thus far. But after them Valentine and Elle were right there. Katie Bloomwood's narration has grown on my thrus far. I am really enjoying the stories too much to give the audio narration up.

Another Great Addition to the Series!

This is the third book in the Sons of Olympus series, a Greek god, and magical romance. This series is amazing! Valentine and Elle's story is passionate, entertaining, and captivating. Valentine is the guardian angel of love. He is handsome, and protective. Elle is beautiful, smart, caring, and strong. They complement each other. The world building is original, and intriguing. Katie Bloomwood did a great job bringing this story to life. Looking forward to listening to Wave Rider, the next book in the series. Heart Breaker!

This is an absolute page turner of a story. I listened to the audio version and kept wanting the narrator to talk faster. The narrator did a really good job bringing the characters and their story to life. The Guardian angel of love has sworn of love and distractions. Elle has had an intriguing and interesting path t find love. The author does a wonderful job brining the Greek Gods and mythology to life. The story is fun with some delightful surprises and twists along the way.

A woman scorned

The third book in a series of gods who aren't looking for love but find it anyway with the help from a hero in training. Darkness threatens the city and the power of love is the only thing that can save them. Recommend reading the series in order but it's not necessary.

Not For Me

"I'm not some Princess who needs saving. I can take care of myself."

Except she was and did...

I loved the setting of this book. I loved the Greek mythology intermixed with modern day. I liked that vampires fed on the love of people through their blood. I loved that the story began with Zephyr- who sounded like a lot of fun! (I want his story!)

The set up introducing Elle and Valentine respectively was interesting and attention-catching. Unfortunately, it went down for me from there.

Elle's friend Nancy, had good intentions, but was quick to dislike. She repeatedly ignored all of Elle's wishes in favor of what she thought was best for her. Elle didn't want to go to the speed dating event at a depressing bar with jaded rich people? Too bad, Nancy "won't take no for an answer" and would drag her out herself. Interested in the bad boy- no, he's no good. These guys that don't interest her? Go with them. It put a bad taste in my mouth.

For me, (at least what I'd gotten through) Elle falls into the heroine category of too stupid to live. Attacked by vampires in a booth in a bar? Runs up to the roof away from everyone, instead of towards a crowd. Vampire jumps off roof to the street below to escape Valentine. Elle doesn't trust him even though he saved her and warned her, escapes down the ladder to the street. Is ambushed by same vampire plus backup who simply followed her home.

Even after Valentine and two other vampire slayers save her, and he warns her yet again, she still doesn't trust him. *eye roll* He reveals his matching heart-shaped pendant. But it wasn't until her cat Byron liked him so she says, "Well he likes you. Which means you must be trustworthy. I'll come with you."

Another turn off for me- the bad guys monologued too much. I know this is young adult, but it felt juvenile. Elle is tossed a weapon and must conjure up a strong emotion to use it but fails. So of course mid-battle, vampire who tried to kill her taunts her and threatens to find and hurt Nancy, angered her just enough to use the weapon she otherwise couldn't and kill him. *sigh* She said she doesn't need saving, but in the first hour and a half of this audiobook, she was saved three times.

I listened to this narrated by Katie Bloomwood. I thought she did a great job. I liked the tone of her voice. She spoke clearly and was well paced.

This was my first from this author. Unfortunately this one wasn't for me and I stopped listening after and hour and a half. Maybe because it's young adult- though I do read those from time to time just fine. I would try again with something adult maybe.

Power of love.

I just finished reading Heart Breaker which is book three of the Sons of Olympus series. I thought the author did a good job of bringing the story to life, as well as making the characters relatable. Needless to say, I’ll definitely be reading more from this author.

Great characters

I received this book through BookFunnel in exchange for my review. This is not a paid review.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book. They weren’t your average, typical vampires which was a nice change of pace. The plot and storyline were also very well thought out!

I also really enjoyed the authors writing style. She’s great , I definitely recommend this book :)

Don't Go Breaking My Heart

Gleeful Goblin Review: This story starts out with one of the coolest descriptions of vampire origin story I think I've heard: "Zephyr unfolded the photograph from his pocket and studied the Sons of Olympus. He scanned the eyes of the men, eyes that burned brightly with their godly powers, until he landed on the most brooding of them all. Valentine, the descendant of Eros. Guardian angel of love, and, if Hera wasn’t mistaken, a vampire-slaying resident of this city. Zephyr shuddered and glanced warily at the shadows. Of all the reckless things the Olympians had done, creating the vampires had to top the list. What had started off as a love triangle between two unlucky mortals and Apollo, had resulted in the birth of a monster that fed on the life-force of every mortal. Or, more specifically, what was within that life-force. Love. And so, Aphrodite and her winged warriors had leaped into battle." I absolutely loved that snippet of vampire creation myth; so cool! I also have to admit, I'm a tiny bit of a sucker for a brooding hero and Valentine is 100% fitting into that brooding hero archetype. Driven, hardened by adversity, who hunts monsters, and buried deep down someone who longs to be loved himself.

I think the book was really well narrated (single narrator but dual POV), definitely an easy and fun listen all the way through. The story has a good amount of Greek mythology core influence but distinguished itself as something new at the same time which is not an easy task! One of the concepts that gets explored is since vampires feed on emotions and especially on love, what do you have to give up (or THINK you have to give up) in order to protect others from vampires and fulfil a sacred duty? I loved how we explore that question from two opposing viewpoints via our MCs and that's the main source of conflict/friction! I'm thrilled to have gotten to the HEA and so happy to have gotten a chance to review this audiobook. 5/5 Stars.

Another Great Addition to the Series

This third installment of Sons of Olympus was well written and kept me entertained from beginning to end. Katie Bloomwood did a great job of breathing life into the story and making this as fun to listen to as it is to read.
