Publisher's summary

An action-packed tale full of romance, royalty, and adventure, inspired by the story of Anastasia. Perfect for fans of Six of Crows, Cinder, and the cult classic television show Firefly.

Seventeen-year-old Ana is a scoundrel by nurture and an outlaw by nature. Found as a child drifting through space with a sentient android called D09, Ana was saved by a fearsome space captain and the grizzled crew she now calls family. But D09 - one of the last remaining illegal Metals - has been glitching, and Ana will stop at nothing to find a way to fix him.

Ana’s desperate effort to save D09 leads her on a quest to steal the coordinates to a lost ship that could offer all the answers. But at the last moment, a spoiled Ironblood boy beats Ana to her prize. He has his own reasons for taking the coordinates, and he doesn’t care what he’ll sacrifice to keep them.

When everything goes wrong, she and the Ironblood end up as fugitives on the run. Now their entire kingdom is after them - and the coordinates - and not everyone wants them captured alive.

What they find in a lost corner of the universe will change all their lives - and unearth dangerous secrets. But when a darkness from Ana’s past returns, she must face an impossible choice: Does she protect a kingdom that wants her dead or save the Metal boy she loves?

Why isn’t there an audiobook for book 2?

I loved listening to this audiobook! It felt like Treasure Planet meets Anastasia meets iRobot. Loved all of it. Went to listen to book 2 and it’s out but no audiobook? Why!?

Awkward narration

I can't speak for the story, or all of the narration, but I wanted to give out a warning to those that care about the narration. It sounds like she has poor equipment - I find myself focusing more on the constant breaths I hear rather than the story, like she read this after running up the stairs a few times.

Update: the narration got better as the book went on.

A wild ride of a story

I really enjoyed this book. It was action packed from beginning to end and I had a hard time putting it down until I finished. I also enjoyed the narrator who added different voices to each character bringing them to life. Can't wait for the next audio book.

Audio was great but plot line cliche

The narrator did a fantastic job and I will look for others read by her again. The book itself will have to be viewed in my Goodreads account or my book review blog.

Almost perfect

This story is amazing! I highly recommend it. The only issue with the audiobook is that the narrator mispronounced one of the main character’s name. It’s not that significant, but it did bug a perfectionist like myself. It’s pronounced DEE not DYE.

A little disappointing. It ended in the middle.

Audio performances brilliant. If I'd known it was half a story I wouldn't have bought it.

Starts strong but the last third. Blech

SPOILERS

In the last third a robotic crew member with missing memories dies. Almost comes back to life. Then comes back to life and gets some memories back only to be possessed and have all memories wiped only to remember some things. Meanwhile the evil queen has a heat of gold and saves her son and the swordsman loses his sword arm and the hero can’t kill the bad guy because then she’d be “just as bad as him” but then he tries to pull a gun so she kills him and is ok with it.

UGGGHHH. so much promise up to that point.

Getting lost in the story

I can not distinguish and change in voice between characters so I get lost in the story.

A tile floor on a space ship!!!

To Many stupid mistakes and comments (not funny stuff) just stupid stuff like tile floors in a space ship. It could have been a good book if there was a little humor and take out stupid stuff like the tile floors and other things like that.
