About this listen

Raised in a tribe of street urchins, Maddie Grande was taught to be a thief and beggar on the streets of New Orleans. But Maddie doesn't know her real name or where she came from. Raised by Dexter Grande, Maddie and her twin "brothers" have recently left New Orleans and moved to the bayou. The twins are rarely there, but Maddie has come to love the swamp. She has learned to fish and trap and sell pelts at the local mercantile.

Maddie longs to change her life but knows that her brothers will never give up their lawless ways. When they kidnap the daughter of a wealthy carpetbagger, the twins force Maddie to hide the precocious eight-year-old while they return to New Orleans to wait for notice of a reward.

Pinkerton agent Tom Abbott is assigned to the kidnapping case in which Maddie has become an accomplice. In a journey that takes them to Baton Rouge, a mutual attraction becomes evident, but Tom and Maddie cannot trust each other. Will Maddie ever discover who she is? Will her real family ever find her? Will Maddie and Tom listen to their hearts? Or will they choose honor over love?

Part two doesnt disappoint

Any additional comments?

I loved this continuing story of sisters separated after their parents death. Each girl grows up in different circumstances. This is the story of Megan or "Maddie" who learns how to change her life for the better and find herself worthy to accept these changes. Im not going to ruin the story for anyone but if you enjoy family stories and struggles mixed with a tender love story then you will like this series. I look forward to book 3.

Heart of Lies: Irish Angel Series

Jill Marie Landis is a very talented author. Her writing style is unique and you feel as though you are part of the setting. The characters in this story soon become real and the personalities are depicted vividly. This is the first book that I have read by Jill Marie Landis and I purchased two others but found that the language and sexual descriptions were a little explicit for my taste. This was disapointing because I feel like her talent is so wonderful but I am afraid to invest in other books that may have content that makes me uncomfortable.

Heart of Lies Irish Angels Series book 2

As the title indicates, lies are central to this story; It's about the ones we are told, the ones we tell ourselves and the ones we believe. As the series continues and the search for the long lost sister unfolds before us two separate stories are developed. In this story we are exposed to the life sister number two is living. While she makes a living trapping animals to survive, it is easy to see she herself is trapped in this life and we experience the struggle she begins to have with the changes she wants for herself, for her future.

Additionally, we see the life she could have begin a transformation in her. All along the way she is challenged to believe that she is worthy of something more than she has had or has been. We all make choices in the process of being transformed, do we continue to believe the lies of Satan that says God can't love a sinner like you? or You're not worthy of this blessing, or this love or even this forgiveness? How wonderful it is when she, like us, is made free by the truth.

I think you will enjoy this book and the stories of the life of this second Irish Angel. I look forward to book three.

I liked how she tied in the 1st and 2nd books

this book is a separate story but ties in well with the story from book 1.

What a delight

Would you listen to Heart of Lies again? Why?

I would listen again. The story held my interest throughout the series and I hope the author completes the series. The narrator was excellent and was able to give each character their own unique voise. I didn't know what to expect, because I purchased the third in the series first by mistake. When I discoverd what I had done, I went back and purchased he first two, so I could start from the beginning. My mom and I really enjoyed the series.

What about Renée Raudman’s performance did you like?

The was great at giving each character a unique voice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I don't want to give anything away, but the entire subject moved me.

AWESOME Series!!

What did you love best about Heart of Lies?

This series (all 3 books) is awesome. Although you think you know what will happen, there are always twists and turns to keep you guessing. The stories reflect past events, without dwelling of retelling every detail in each book - much appreciated. Each book brings the family closer to reunion without having them forget the life they have lived and the names they were given. Can't wait for Sarah's story.

What did you like best about this story?

See above comment.

What does Renée Raudman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It was easy to visualize the people and the situation by the way it was presented.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely.

So So not my favorite

I went looking for something new in the christian novel genre, but this was just a bit too odd for me. The story was ok, but not really to my liking. Narrator was good. Not a bad story just not my cup of tea.

Nice Story, Not The Love Story

So I wanted to like this book as much as the first one, but the love story made confused that I couldn't enjoy the chemistry at all
In this book we follow Maddie who is a thief and she is living in the slumps, one day she is forced to help with the kidnapping of a little girl but she tries to rescue her behind everyone's back, add to the mix a detective who is on her trail and things will get much more complicated
I liked Maddie's character, and Tom .. but together ? not so much
that Penelope girl was the highlight of the story she is spunky and full of sas for an eight years old

The narration was equally excellent as the first book, I like how she have a diversity of accents that I could tell all the characters apart without her saying who is speaking, excellent choice for a narrator
