About this listen

A werewolf killer. A paranormal murder. How many times can Emma Bellamy cheat death?

I’m one placement away from becoming a fully fledged London detective. It’s bad enough that my last assignment before I qualify is with Supernatural Squad. But that’s nothing compared to what happens next.

Brutally murdered by an unknown assailant, I wake up 12 hours later in the morgue - and I’m very much alive. I don’t know how or why it happened. I don’t know who killed me. All I know is that they might try again.

Werewolves are disappearing right, left, and centre.

A mysterious vampire seems intent on following me everywhere I go.

And I have to solve my own vicious killing. Preferably before death comes for me again.

SUPer good writing as always

the combination of this author and narrator is magic. I first discovered these ladies with the audio book "Wraith." I loved it immediately.
this book takes supernatural to another level, one filled with interesting characters and a riveting story line. I enjoy supernatural and fantasy but many books contain war and excessive violence. I will look for a second, hopefully, in this series. thank you, Helen Harper and Ruth Urquhart for a wonderful creation.

I enjoyed it a lot

I enjoyed this book a lot. While being a supernatural book, there wasn’t a lot of what normally goes along with them like vamps biting, wolves shifting, mates and what not. Surprise twist at the end was also pretty fun!

Not bad

It’s not bad but can get long winded at times. I will continue the series though

Interesting concept

The overall story was a bit repetitive and a tad predictable but the potential is there and rather intriguing. I'll definitely give the second book a listen.

Different and very good

Even though some of Emma's traits have seemed a bit annoying to me, the whole story was very good. I am not a fan of the accent, but given that the story takes place in London, one couldn't do without it, I guess.

I've liked the different approach to the werewolves & vampire universe, and the new element of crime story.

I am a bit confused as to why nobody seems not to be able to guess what Emma is... there aren't many creatures with that particular ability after all, are there. Well, mythology anyone?!

whatever, great book, very good narration!

Finally!

Finally, there is a book series out there that can hold my attention till the very end. Going along with Dartanian in her adventures is thrilling. I cannot wait to see what the next book in the series will have for me.

Very good

I wasn’t expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. The reader is great and the story is unique and well written.
It’s not anything deep or philosophical, it’s just a fun story with likable characters and I look forward to book 2.

Something different

I started listening to the story and found the British accents refreshing, even though it took me a while to get use to it. The story itself was different and I loved the fact that there was magical realism embedded within the story.

Okay but a bit shallow

The mystery was far too easy, not only did I figure it out way before the heroine, but found her a bit dense. Any halfway decent sleuth would have known the boss was a victim not her killer, and the heroine also came off as to much like a teenager instead of my age. For someone top of her class and good at everything she does, she’s not a very good sleuth. The making it two separate cases was good. And unless the author intends to unveil new abilities with each book, she’s not that powerful and no mention was so ever of the Pheniox, which is why I got it. Maybe the stories will improve
