About this listen

Nora Arnsby fights her way into a world dominated by men.

When a break-in shatters the sense of home she's created, Nora can’t find her footing. With the intruders growing bolder and her safety at risk, she reaches out to the only person who will listen, even if it means asking a man for help. The stranger across the street is handsome and persistently kind, so different from other men.

Mathias Horton refuses to let any woman get close to him.

Nursing a broken heart and equally shattered dreams, he wants to avoid the new hat maker. However, he can't stand to see anyone in need - especially this one. Her spirit, determination, and bright blue eyes compel him to do what he can to help her...protect her. But the more time he spends with her, the more he begins to care.

Mathias must resume the life he gave up to save the one who ignites his battered heart, or admit defeat and let her go back to Deadwood.

Suspenseful Historical Western Christian Romance

Independent Nora is determined to start her own milliner in Hot Springs without the the help of a man, but someone wants to sabotage her store. Mathias was hurt by a woman before, but it's hard to fight his attraction and at times frustration with the stubborn woman moving in across the street from his mercantile. I smiled, laughed, and held my breath at time reading their romance while they struggled against all the bad things that kept happening since Nora came to town. Poor Nora endured break ins, vandalism, repeated verbal threats, broken fingers, kidnappings, and Mathias' rude sister Katy who kept making her feel unwanted and unwelcome. I would have packed up my store long ago if I were her, but she refused to give up. This was a clean Christian suspenseful historical western romance.

The narrator had an interesting old western raspy sound to her voice. She added plenty of twang and the right amount of voice changes and emotional inflections to keep me listening to the end.

The Best!!!

Nora and Mathias story is just as wonderful as every one in this series! Kari Trumbo has quickly become one of my favorite authors and her writing always pulls at my heart! Nora has come to Hot Springs to open up a haberdashery, her dream and she finally finds a building that will work so that she can also live there in the back. Across the street is the mercantile and she meets handsome Mathias but his sister is terrible to Nora for some reason. Mathias guards his heart due to having been jilted in the past and his sister, a widow does not want that to happen again and she sees Nora as a threat to him. But all is not as it seems and there are many mishaps that put Nora in danger and it kept me hanging on every word to see what would happen. With the writing of Kari and the great narration of Carol Grace Anderson, I could only sigh as I heard the last word. Do not miss this or any of this amazing series!

Sweet, fun, with a bit of mystery

Really loved these characters, and seeing everyone evolve and grow was enjoyable. Always love a bit of mystery with any story, so that was an extra bonus. The setting was fun, and the action kept everything moving along.

Fantastic

Hearts in Hot Springs is a fantastic addition to this sweet and clean romance series. Each book in this series can be read as a stand alone, but I love revisiting characters from previous books. I really like the writing style of this author and the storyline is always fresh and engaging. The characters are realistic and interesting and I didn’t want to put it his book down. The narrator gives a wonderful performance of this gem.

She's stubborn. He's determined. And sparks fly!

Aaah, this is what I've come to expect in Kari Trumbo's historical romance Seven Brides Of South Dakota series. A stubborn heroine, a determined hero, lots of romantic sparks flying, and a healthy dash of suspense. Yes, Hearts In Hot Springs is exactly that. It's fun, at times funny, and sure to be thought provoking while fully entertaining the reader/listener.

Nora and Mathias drive each other crazy and me as well sometimes. Nora stubbornly believes that every offer of assistance is an insult to her independence and capability. Mathias stubbornly believes that no matter how much she proves herself Nora will eventually up and leave him. If any two characters deserve each other it's these two. And I say that with an amused chuckle.

This audiobook has a different narrator from the previous books and I'm still deciding how I feel about that. She does a good job of allowing the emotion of the story into her voice and she reads it well. However, her voice is, in my opinion, a trifle mature for such a young heroine. Still, I enjoyed listening to the audiobook and I wouldn't hesitate to tell you to read or listen to it if you enjoy western historical romance with a message of faith and hope.

Charming Story

I've read/listened to many books by Ms. Trumbo, and I always love her charming, sweet, faith-based stories. This is also a delightful and sweet read and I enjoyed listening to the audiobook. The characters are faced with misunderstandings and challenges and they must learn to trust and believe in themselves. This is a clean, western romance that really captivated me and held my attention all the way through. I enjoyed how the narrator brought each of the characters to life and was able to show each of their personalities through her voice. It was a lovely story and I enjoyed listening to it.

Ms. Trumbo comes through again

As always Ms. Trumbo delivered a wonderfully sweet story. I liked the mystery and intrigue. The history comments at the end were interesting and appreciated. It is so delightful to have books I can listen to/read without any worry of inappropriate language or content. I can pick up this author's books with no worry about that. A light touch of humorous teasing between Nora and Matthias area a good balance to the more intense part of the story line.
The narrator wasn't the greatest but not horrible like some. Her reading was a little choppy, breaking sentences up at times, not really catching a natural flow and expression. I think maybe I am just spoiled, and maybe a little picky, because I grew up listening to my mother read to us and she was a great oral reader.

Learning To Trust

The authors books are always heartwarming and enjoyable to read or listen to. Nora needs help when her personal space and home is threaten and what to do. A neighbor seemed different, he didn’t want anyone to get close to him. A help he couldn’t refuse, and learning to trust for both of them, brought love. Good clear narration. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
