About this listen

He's different from any man she's ever known. However, she's sworn never to risk her heart again.

Brooke Baker, sold as a mail-order bride, looks to her future with dread but firm resolve. If she survived Uncle Jackson, she can survive anyone. When Sky Jordan hears that his nefarious cousin has sent for a mail-order bride, he knows he has to prevent the marriage. No woman deserves to be left to that fate. Still, he's as surprised as anyone to find himself standing next to her before the minister.

Brooke's new husband turns out to be kinder than any man has ever been. But then the unthinkable happens and she holds the key that might save innocent lives but destroy Sky all in one fell swoop. It's a choice too unbearable to contemplate...but a choice that must be made.

A thirsty soul. Alluring hope. An oasis of love. Step into a day when outlaws ran free, the land was wild, and guns blazed at the drop of a hat.

Well written and full of hope

Narrator added to the storytelling. It was sad to hear the graphic depiction of the store keepers death and then hear this really happened. It brings home the fact that this time period of our country's past was dangerous.

Christian book, historical fiction

Great story. Biblical references. History and love in its purest form, no language, will read more in series!

Great Christian Western historical fiction romance

We have listened to this series several times over the years. Great series! It may be fictional, but there are some historical facts.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF GROOM

What made the experience of listening to Rocky Mountain Oasis the most enjoyable?

The reader's voice is smooth and easy to listen to. She makes each character's dialogue distinct.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rocky Mountain Oasis?

Brooke sees her prospective groom standing to one side, holding one daisy to give her -- the only wedding flower he could find. She dreads being married to this man, but feels strangely drawn to him. Will she be able to save his life or will she choose to relinquish his in order to save others' lives in the town?

What does Anne Johnston Brown bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her rendition of the story brings drama to an already dramatic novel.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! Who could turn it off?

Any additional comments?

ROCKY MOUNTAIN OASIS is a page-turner. You'll catch your breath every few pages.

Absolutely LOVED IT!!!!

Would you listen to Rocky Mountain Oasis again? Why?

Absolutely! It's a timeless story of true love, but more importantly the love and forgiveness God shows through Jesus to ANYONE, no matter their past history, that comes to Him. Mz. Bonner did an amazing job at portraying the love of God through this book! I also loved how God was not just a side add-on so this would qualify as a Christian novel, but that He was the main theme throughout the book. Although there were many cute romance scenes between the main couple, the focus was on how Jesus was drawing many of the characters to Himself.

What other book might you compare Rocky Mountain Oasis to and why?

I would compare Lynette Bonner's books to Karen Whitemeyer's books. They use a similar writing style and this book, Rockey Mountain Oasis, has similarity to Witemeyer's Short Straw Bride book as they're both about love blooming after an unexpected marriage, my personal favorite type of Christian romance books!

Who was the most memorable character of Rocky Mountain Oasis and why?

My favorite character was Skyler Jordan. The author did an amazing job portraying the love of Jesus through Him. It made me fall in love with God all over again!

Any additional comments?

LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT!!! Immediately got addicted to the author's writing style - can't wait to listen to the other books in the series!!!!

Rocky Mountain Oasis: A pleasant surprise

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to all avid readers. It is hard to tear oneself from this book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rocky Mountain Oasis?

The most memorable moment for me was when Skye told Brook that he loved her and was comitted to her even before she had reason to trust him. He knew that she was a wounded soul and need his patients and tender attention. He cared for her in little was that matters to a womans heart.

Which scene was your favorite?

I guess it would be the epilogue when it is my expected happily ever after. The loving scene Skye's family walks in on when coming to dinner. The bread burning because Skye has Brook otherwise occupied.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Oh yes. I listened to it at night and only fell asleep when my eyes could not bear to stay open. As soon as I got a bit of sleep I got up and resume listening.

Any additional comments?

I was so fasinated with this book that I immediately went online to purchase the entire series. I look forward to reading any other book published by this author. I love the way this author stress a personal relationship with God. I have each book on my kindle fire as well. There are questions that people often ask about God that are given matter of fact answers in the interaction of the characters, answers that speak into the lives of any reader to evaluate their own realationship with God.

Interesting characters and complex storyline

I enjoyed the story which grew through each chapter. Loosely based on actual events of the growing west, where love’s unquenchable power survives and thrives.

Truly Enjoyed It

Great story and fun read. Predictable in many ways, but still a really well done book. Will be interested in other books by this author.

repetitive

Ok, but plot is hackneyed, dialogue is repetitive. Not a bad book, just not a good book.

Amazing Talent - Wrong Accent

The narrator is AMAZING in her subtle voice changes, but everyone from South Carolina? Really?
