About this listen

10:35 AM, September 14th, 2015. Portsmouth, England.

A global particle physics experiment releases a pulse of unknown energy with catastrophic results. The sanctity of the grave has been sundered and a million graveyards expel their tenants from eternal slumber. The world is unaware of the impending apocalypse, governments crumble and armies are scattered to the wind under the onslaught of the dead.

Kurt Taylor, a self-employed plumber, witnesses the start of the horrifying outbreak. Desperate to reach his family before they fall victim to the ever growing horde of shambling corruption, he flees the scene. In a society with few guns, how can people hope to survive the endless waves of zombies that seek to consume every living thing? With ingenuity, planning, and everyday materials, the group forge their way and strike back at the Hellspawn legions.

Rescues are mounted, but not all survivors are benevolent, the evil that is in all men has been given free rein in this new, dead world. With both the living and dead to contend with, is there any hope for the Taylor family?

AWESOME! CAN'T NOT LOVE ZOMBIES! GREAT LISTEN.

This was awesome! Right up my alley, I love the scarier and grosser the better LOL. Compelling story, loved the narration also. Loved the women/children angle, well done. I really liked this book, liked the characters, plot, and am so excited to listen to more! Bring it on! Would definitely recommend this one to any and all that like the genre. Great job!!

ONE OF MY FAVORITE APOCALYPSE BOOKS SO FAR

Where does Hellspawn rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The book is in my top ten so far because of on key element - the greater use of women and children. Many books are from the male point of view and make the women and children minor characters. In real life that is not the case is it?

Who was your favorite character and why?

Braydon. You just wanted to keep cheering for him. Won't add any spoilers here!

Which character – as performed by Jonathan Johns – was your favorite?

Took me a while to warm up to this reader, I will not lie. The book pulled me through it though.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to sit and listen on and on!

Any additional comments?

Ok, ready for book 2 and 3 in audio format!! HURRY HURRY!!!

Decent realistic story

It was a decent story and I will likely purchase the next volume. These were real people and I liked how they blamed it on CERN

Hellspawn is awesome

A Z-poc thrill ride that changes the definition of what a family really is, superb.

A surprise.

I am always searching for a new zombie book to devour and most that I find end up being a waste of time (and not in a good way). I found this author through a Facebook page that I am a part of and figured I would give it a go. I am so very happy I did. This book is well written and has an incredibly compelling story line, even though it is a very simple concept- a family struggling with the beginning of the zombie outbreak. The narrator is not the best by any means, but luckily the author's writing helps you to get beyond that misstep. Absolutely worth your time and credit!

What I wanted Fear TWD to be...

What an awesome book! This book snatches your attention immediately giving an insight from multiple perspectives on how this scenario could unfold. The author created characters that you care about, flawed people pulling together in the worst of times. This book grabbed me from the beginning and I was actually annoyed when I would reach my destination as I wanted to find out what happened next!

Much better than I expected!

Maybe it was the cover art, but I didn't really go into this listen with high hopes. (Oh! That's where the saying "don't judge a book by its cover" came from! lol jk)

Likeable characters and interesting well thought out storyline proved me wrong quickly. I'm invested in the lives of these survivors (regular folks with no extra survival or gun training..... and smart capable women and kids too! Awesome!) - will definitely be downloading a part 2 if it's on its way :)
