The Narrator is horrible

I rarely leave a review on a book that I have listened to but I had to on this one to warn others! The narrator is horrible, I kept thinking it might get better but it didn’t . It’s really too bad because the storyline was pretty good.

Great Procedural!!!

This is the first book in a new series. What an excellent read it is. The characters are likable and fully fleshed out. The story is believable and the plot is plausible.
The protagonist (Thomas Shepherd) has moved back to his hometown of Wolf Lake where he gets a job as a deputy. It’s a step down from his Detective position in California. He was wounded and needs a quieter life but wants to remain in law enforcement, much to his wealthy parents chagrin. Shepherd is their only child. He has very mild Asperger syndrome. Shepherd’s quieter life is soon shattered when the body of a missing teenage prostitute washes up on the lakeshore by his home.
This is a superb procedural. Very taught with some great “don’t go there“ moments. This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.
Daniela Actelli does a wonderful job narrating.

The narration is...

"wrong", somehow the intonation is wrong. It can could be good but it'd at the edge. I can't say how often I almost dnf (did not finish) it. I'm now on book 5 (it didn't get any better yet) but I like most of the characters...but I'm always correcting the intonation in my head 🙈

love the storyline

BUT PLEASE GET A BETTER NARRATOR. it seems the narrator really likes to hear herself talk, but I dont. She's all off; accentuating the wrong parts of words and mis-pronouncing others. She's got this weird hybrid British inflection that sounds ridiculous. I want to hear the rest of the stories, but this narrator is a huge deterrent!

Gangs and murders

Thomas Shepherd is back in his hometown after quitting his position with the LAPD. On his first day as a sheriff’s deputy, Thomas is thrust into a gruesome murder of a young prostitute. The sheriff believes that the murder is gang related but Thomas has doubts. With the help of his 14yo disabled, computer wiz neighbor, Thomas is determined to track down the real killer. Good story with excellent narration.

narrator made the book less enjoyable

the story was good but the narrator made it less enjoyable. I had a hard time following the characters as she used the same voice for everyone.

The narrator is like nails on a chalkboard

I really couldn’t pay attention to the story because of the narrator’s voice or lack there of. Yikes

Narrator strange voice

I liked the book, but the narrator had a distracting cadence to her voice.

Story fine, Narrator not

I agree with others. The narrator can make or break a book. In this case, it was like listening to a bad Jr high play. It was hard to listen.
