About this listen

Having garnered such honors as the Laurel Wreath Award for Historical Romance, CBA best-selling author Delia Parr delivers an engaging tale set in the outskirts of 1830s Philadelphia. While on her way to a new life, Annabelle Tyler finds herself handcuffed by highwaymen to Harrison Graymoor - Philadelphia’s most eligible bachelor - and thrust into a marriage neither wants. Before they can annul this sham, however, the newspaper announces their nuptials. As the plot thickens, the unlikely couple desperately tries not to fall in love.

I fully enjoyed this story and the characters with one exception. When the reader has been engaged in a book for multiple hours,…a book shouldn’t end in 15 seconds. This book needs a rewrite on the last chapter, or an epilogue maybe. Simply too short and abrupt of an ending. I wanted more. Isn’t this why we followed their journey? This is my first (and last) Delia Parr book. Authors typically don’t change their writing styles. Ms. Parr, I wish your editor would have encouraged you to fluff up your ending. Great storyline though!

Loved the story

Narrator quality was poor - choppy and somewhat pressured speech. All characters had same voice inflection.

Did not enjoy this book.
