About this listen

A boss-employee romance...with a twist

Only three things stand between Ava Carmichael and her $12 billion inheritance:

  1. A year of living in Bliss, Kansas.
  2. A relationship that lasts six consecutive months.
  3. A pie.

Ava has run a multibillion-dollar company, negotiated with shark investors, and hobnobbed with business royalty, but she’s about to be defeated by her inability to turn sugar, flour, and apple pie filling into something edible.

Conveniently, the owner of the diner next door, Parker Blake, is magic in the kitchen. And he technically works for her. So she can make him teach her to bake. And hey, if everyone assumes they’re heating up more than the oven during their time in the kitchen...well, that’s called multitasking.

Parker Blake likes his women the way he likes his coffee: not in his diner. But gorgeous, strong-willed, type-A Ava clearly isn’t going to stop messing up his kitchen - or his simple, stress-free small-town life - until the conditions of her daddy’s will are met. So, sure, he’ll teach his “boss” to bake.

But once the kitchen door closes, it’s pretty clear who’s really in charge.

A must read for the Triplets

I started the first book and finished it so fast I couldn't wait to start the next one. The story of Ava and Parker was so beautiful. They were each others strength. Got to go now..and start the 3rd book of the trilogy.

Letting go of fear and control to embrace love

I loved, loved Ava and Parker’s fish out of water, opposites attract, healing romance of all the feels. This heartwarming and steamy tale is full of passion, sweetness, acceptance and love. Ava is a triplet from an uber wealthy NYC family. She is the CEO of her family’s billion dollar company and the “serious” sister. When Ava’s estranged father dies, his will requires the sisters to live in small town Bliss Kansas for a year, run a pie shop for a profit, and do specific jobs that are not in their wheelhouse. Ava has to make the pies, date a single someone for 6 months and not do any of the business for the pie shop. Parker owns the diner next door to the pie shop. He really wants the sisters to meet the requirements since otherwise he’ll have to help run their company. Ava and Parker are both plan oriented, rigid people who feel safer with everything in its place. Attempting to bake pies is throwing Ava off her equilibrium and Ava is throwing Parker off his. The journey to their HEA starts as soon as Ava stomps into Parker’s kitchen for the first time in her high heels to “borrow” butter but to get there will require both of them letting go of fear and a willingness to change and take leaps of faith. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline as shown in sweet moments, steamy scenes, laughs, supportive friends, messy families, painful pasts, quirky townspeople, and all the love. I am looking forward to reading the third sister’s love story.

Summer Roberts and Tyler Donne did a great job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly.

Beware

First half - cute, funny story. Thought maybe my granddaughters would like it.
Then...it turned into a sleazy sex novel. Ruined it for me.
Tried to listen again... the further you go, the more vulgar the language becomes. Too bad, because the storyline and the narrator are great.
