About this listen

What happens when a smoking hot, but grouchy vet meets a sunny and sassy optimist? An opposites attract, grumpy boss, small town romance that's otterly irresistible.

Broody wildlife veterinarian Griffin Foster is done. Done trying to save the world. Done getting attached. He's been fired twice for standing his ground and now he's going to be content - by God - in small-town Louisiana, in a small veterinary practice, where there will only be small problems.

Quiet and boring, though? Um, no. He's been adopted by a loud, crazy Cajun family with a tiny petting zoo for him to care for. Hey, it's not endangered tigers at a nationally renowned zoo, but a family of otters - and all the gumbo he can eat - isn't a bad deal.

Until she shows up. Again.

The sunny, gorgeous optimist who stole his heart - and his favorite shirt - two months ago. Who clearly hasn't heard the word "no" enough in her life. And who is the first woman to put even a tiny crack in his don't-get-attached wall.

Charlotte "Charlie" Landry is the new marketing consultant for the family swamp-boat tour company and petting zoo. It might not have been her plan, but she is all in, ready to grow the business. Whether the hot, grumpy vet likes it or not.

He doesn't.

Worse, sparring with his unforgettable one-night stand is more fun than he's had in a long time.

But watching wears-designer-dresses Charlie find her dream job amongst a bunch of goats, alpacas, and otters is a surprise.

And her helping him find his passion again is...well, irresistible.

Great new series

The audiobook of this new series of Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild is fantastic. Conner Crais and Stephanie Rose really brought Griffin and Charlie to life for me. Griffin is the vet for the new wildlife part of Boys of the Bayou and is really protective of the animals. He takes their safety very seriously. Charlie Landry has come back after being fired from her marketing job in Paris. Griffin and Charlie met at her cousins' weddings and had a one night stand but didn't know who each other was. Now she's back and he's her boss. Charlie has big marketing ideas for the park but Griffin isn't sure how the animals will react to people. Charlie is very persuasive but hopefully her ideas won't get too out of hand. Griffin and Charlie can't stay away from each other either. I really like how everything came together. I'm looking forward to more in this series.

Narrator frustration

I wanted the narrators to not do other gendered part themselves. Its better when if a female is talking the female should be narrating rather than the male just using a "different" voice. It doesn't have the same affect.

cute rom-com

The Landry family are hilarious and a tight knit family. Charlotte or Charlie is actually a cousin who doesn't live in the Bayou. She is only visiting for three of her cousins weddings when she first meets Griffin.
Their first encounter with him talking to the goats outside the bar was hilarious. The fact that Sugar had a crush on him and would get out of the enclosure and follow his voice is priceless.
Stephanie Rose and Connor Crais were perfect for these characters.

Great story & narration

I loved this book by Erin Nicholas and being back in Autre for her new series, Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild. Connor Crais and Stephanie Rose did a fantastic job narrating and bringing the story and characters to life. They captured the characters’ personality and nuisances perfectly.

Otterly wonderful start to the series.

Griffin and Charlotte’s story is so much fun and narration by Connor Crais and Stephanie Rose makes it even more fantastic. This is the first book in the Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild series. I love a book that includes a happy, sunshine and quirky girl and a tortured grumpy hero and oh this book has that in spades. Plus there are otters who have heart to heart talks with our hero! This book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, fan your face steamy, side splitting hilarity, tearful scenes, a big loud over the top family, truckloads of cute animals, and so much heart squeezing love. Griffin and Charlotte (Charlie)’s love story has all the feels - expect to laugh and to cry. On the surface, Griffin and Charlie appear to be opposites. Griffin is a vet who was fired from a prestigious job at the national zoo and landed in small town Autre, Louisiana sharing a vet practice. Griffin just wants to be left alone, wants to have limited interactions with people, and wants to just take care of animals. Charlie is a gorgeous, loud, vivacious big thinker who rarely hears the world no which is good since she works in marketing. Griffin and Charlie have one quick sexual encounter at a wedding, where only first names are exchanged. Charlie then goes off to work in Paris and they assume their paths will never cross again. Unfortunately, Charlie is fired from her job and comes back to Autre to do marketing for her cousin’s tour business and be the p/t assistant at the vet practice, co-owned by one of her cousin’s wives, a vet practice also co-owned by Griffin, and that is where the hilarity really begins. On their way to their HEA, Griffin and Charlie have to both learn a lot about love, family, duty, and embracing who you are. While they follow the inevitable path to being together, it is painfully hilarious to watch their growth and missteps. Sprinkled liberally throughout this beautifully paced story of Griffin and Charlie’s HEA, there are also a number of characters from the author’s Bayou Universe in this book. They are woven seamlessly into this story so rather than being overwhelming or detracting from the main love story, these characters are beautiful and hilarious additions to the unfurling of Griffin and Charlie’s dance of love, passion and hilarity. And I will be forever picturing Griffin’s put upon face from whatever antics Charlie has dreamed up now. I cannot wait to see what’s next for the Landrys and the rest of Autre.

Cute story

Really enjoy Ms. Nicholas' writing style. Her humor and witty banter is always fun. The only thing that would make this audio better is if the production was a Duet format.

I just didn't feel along with the H&H

it's not a bad book, it's narrated well enough, I just found Charlie and Griffin annoying. even speeding it up I was hard pressed to finish it. I don't think it added much to the overall story arc so in the future I'll just skip it. The next book (I'm in the middle) goes back to being really enjoyable so if you start here and aren't impressed, don't give up.
