About this listen

Your favorite surrogate travelers, Jim and Rita, are tackling their biggest challenge yet - hiking the 26-mile Inca Trail to that wonder of the ancient world, Machu Picchu. As both are in their 60s, they are never quite sure if they will succeed. Follow along in "real time" in this day-by-day account of their experiences on this famous trail and destination. If you've ever considered the hike yourself or just wonder what it would be like for "regular people", not professional hikers, you will enjoy this story.

NOTE: This story is an excerpt from An Uphill Climb: Survivor's Guilt and the Inca Trail. This story deals only with the hike itself, and not any of the personal issues addressed in sometimes painful detail in An Uphill Climb.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Few details about anything he saw, loads of unnecessary details about his consripation

I’m not averse to silly poop jokes but seriously, this made for a really boring listen. Despite the book title, there were little to no details about the Inca Trail or Machu Pichu. Plenty of comments about their hotel room at the end of the trip, the chemical toilet the guide brought, the bruise on his ass, toilets along the trail, and on and on.

He made a comment about filling a 32Gb drive with photos but absolutely nothing about what he took pictures of.

A Nice Account of the Inca Trail

I did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did. The author/narrator was funny and gave a great account of the trek. Good advice on what to pack and plan for. Looking forward to hiking the Inca Trail this fall!
