About this listen

Prairie Brides is a series, so you'll want to read the books in order to have the most fun! Enjoy these sweet romances as you get to know the Cooke brothers and the townsfolk of Clear Creek. One of the wackiest little towns in the old west!

Duncan Cooke had a problem. A really BIG problem. As the next Duke of Stantham, he would have power and position, a wealthy estate and the means to take care of his family for years to come. His father and mother could only dream something like this would happen to their eldest son and now their dream was a reality. So what was the problem? He had to get married in the next 38 days or lose it all.

Unfortunately, Duncan lived in Clear Creek. A place where there wasn't a single female around for hundreds of miles.

Except one.

Cozette Duprie could hunt, shoot a gun, and wield a bow and arrow like nobody's business. Heck, she even helped her father take down a buffalo once. But the buckskin clad beauty had been living life disguised as a boy for so long, she had no idea how to be a girl. And worse, her father suddenly thought she ought to start living like one. But why? Why let everyone in Clear Creek know her secret? And if her father had any ideas of marrying her off, who on earth would want her? No one. For how could any man want a wife who couldn't utter a word?

Would Duncan be able to beat the deadline and inherit the title and estate? Or be stopped by those wishing not only the title for themselves, but something much more precious?

True Love

The suspense in this book has me on my toes! I love how wild Colette seemed to be in people's eyes. I loved following her story as she wanted to a queen. Oh how she almost has her dream...

I recommend this awesome book! You will not want to stop listening.

Brings a good story to life

What made the experience of listening to His Prairie Duchess the most enjoyable?

The reader's ability to give each character a unique voice made listening to this story highly enjoyable. I enjoyed reading the book last summer, but listening to this performance gave the story a whole new dimension.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved the interactions between Duncan and Cozette. Being able to "hear" her thoughts and Duncan's understanding was wonderful.

Which scene was your favorite?

I cannot pick a single favorite scene, but I loved the part where Duncan called for his wife in his delirium. I also loved the scene where Cozette is first revealed as the girl that she is.

Any additional comments?

I discovered Kit Morgan's writings during summer of 2014. I so enjoyed reading her light, refreshing stories, that I soon and still gobble up every word that she writes. Having the added dimension of audio has just enhanced her work. I would highly recommend both the written and audio versions of her books to anyone that needs just a few minutes away from the daily grind.

Wonderful Read!

Where does His Prairie Duchess rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This audiobook is one of my favorites! The narrator does the most amazing job with all of the character's voices. How he can keep track of whose voice he's on and keep it on course all the way through is mind-boggling!

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the sweet interaction between Duncan and Cozette, and the way they communicated with each other without her being able to talk. The kitchen scene was so touching, and I also enjoyed the scene where Cozette was showing Duncan her skills with the bow and arrow.

Have you listened to any of Michael Rahhal’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have the first 4 books in this bride series on audio, and he has done a fantastic job with all of them. I was so disappointed that books 5 - 7 were not on audio and narrated by him.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes... I found it very hard to put down.

Any additional comments?

Great narration, wonderful book!

Amazing story as always but wow Michael is awesome

Would you listen to His Prairie Duchess again? Why?

Oh YES. I love Kits stories all of them but I have never heard her stories in audible form. Oh Michael is an amazing performer and so perfect for her books and I will listen to this again and hope to listen to more of her books.

What other book might you compare His Prairie Duchess to and why?

For an audible book, this is the first of Kit's that I have heard. As for others I have heard, I think I HIS TOUCH by Peggy Henderson and narrated by Cody Roberts as he can do great intonations and voices but I don't remember accents.

What about Michael Rahhal’s performance did you like?

What was not to like? I couldn't believe how he could read so narrate so easily changing his voices for all the characters that had speaking lines. I was stunned at how such an awesome performer he is with English, American English, French, Scandinavian, and Scottish if I got them all, and western accents and non educated bad guys. Then so many different men and women and go back and forth especially with the Cooke brothers as each have a different voice. I loved it all and I probably cracked up more when listening to Kit's amazing writing then when I read it and I know I cracked up a lot.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Historical romance at it's best with love, treachery, kidnapping, hilarious at times and frightening at others, and one story to make you wish you there.

Any additional comments?

I love Kit Morgan's stories so much. She is an awesome author with definitely a great sense of humor as she writes because there is always funniness things in her books that you can't help but laughed, but she can make you want to cry or at least almost cry. She adds so many elements to her stories and fun characters that you can't put her stories down.

Now after hearing it narrated, I will listen to it again and get other ones by Kit and Michael Rahhal who does such an amazing job as narrator.

Prairie Brides Book 3

If you could sum up His Prairie Duchess in three words, what would they be?

Exciting, Romantic & Wonderful

What was one of the most memorable moments of His Prairie Duchess?

The whole book was excellent.

What does Michael Rahhal bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Michael Rahhal has a wonderful talent for changing the voices of each character. One minute he is an Englishman, then a Scotchman, a Frenchman, an old geezer, old woman, young women and an assortment of other voices.which are all equally excellent.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The voices of the characters made me laugh as I could easily feel I was really present.

Any additional comments?

This book kept me glued to it being the best in the whole series.
