About this listen
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children was the surprise best seller of 2011—an unprecedented mix of YA fantasy and vintage photography that enthralled audiences and critics alike. Publishers Weekly called it "an enjoyable, eccentric read, distinguished by well-developed characters, a believable Welsh setting, and some very creepy monsters."
This second novel begins in 1940, immediately after the first book ended. Having escaped Miss Peregrine's island by the skin of their teeth, Jacob and his new friends must journey to London, the peculiar capital of the world. Along the way, they encounter new allies, a menagerie of peculiar animals, and other surprises.
Complete with dozens of newly discovered (and thoroughly creepy) vintage photographs, this new adventure will delight fantasy fans of all ages.

Story
Before Miss Peregrine gave them a home, the story of peculiars was written in the Tales. Wealthy cannibals who dine on the discarded limbs of peculiars. A fork-tongued princess. These are but a few of the truly brilliant stories in Tales of the Peculiar - the collection of fairy tales known to hide information about the peculiar world, including clues to the locations of time loops - first introduced by Ransom Riggs in his number-one best-selling Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children series.

Ricky Desmond has been through this all before. If he could just get through to his mother, he could convince her that he doesn't belong at Brookline. From the man who thinks he can fly to the woman who killed her husband, the other patients are nothing like him; all he did was lose his temper just a little bit, just the once. But when Ricky is selected by the sinister Warden Crawford for a very special program - a program that the warden claims will not cure him but perfect him - Ricky realizes that he may not be able to wait for his mom a second longer.

Story
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Heyborne's sense of timing, evident pleasure in the material, and ability to thrillingly execute the book's many dramatic moments will keep listeners riveted." (AudioFile)

When Kara Westfall was six years old, her mother was convicted of the worst of all crimes: Witchcraft. Years later, Kara and her little brother, Taff, are still shunned by the people of their village, who believe that nothing is more evil than magic…except, perhaps, the mysterious forest that covers nearly the entire island. It has many names, this place. Sometimes it is called the Dark Wood, or Sordyr's Realm. But mostly it's called the Thickety.

The living dead are more alive than ever! Zombies have become more than an iconic monster for the 21st century: They are now a phenomenon constantly revealing as much about ourselves - and our fascination with death, resurrection, and survival - as our love for the supernatural or post-apocalyptic speculation. Our most imaginative literary minds have been devoured by these incredible creatures and produced exciting, insightful, and unflinching new works of zombie fiction.

"NARRATOR"
Where does Hollow City rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I love this series. I like "Jesse Bernstein" rather than "Kirby Heyborne" but the whole story was amazing.,
Have you listened to any of Kirby Heyborne’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No. I don't like him.

Fantastic sequel!
At first, the change in narrator is going to be jarring if you listened to the first book, but stick with it! This narrator is even better once you get used to his voice. His accents and delivery are impeccable and the story continues to be engaging and exciting, with a looming sense of danger and true stakes. I'm already hitting Play on Book 3.

Another very enjoyable audio book.
A great book that draws the listener in to the excitement of the peculiar group of misfits on their urgent journey from one loop to the next.

The best series picks up
The Miss Peregrine series (specifically the first three) is my favorite book series and as much as I enjoy the first book, this is the book where the story and the excitement really takes off. Kirby Heyborne is the perfect narrator to the series and I still wish they would re-record the first book using his narration. Highly suggest listening to Hollow City!

Better than the first
The quality of the story is about the same but the writing is noticeably better. That and the narrators British accent less distracting
