About this listen
After a betrayal ends in tragedy, Katy seeks refuge from her abusive husband, Hank, in her quiet hometown of Cedar Branch, North Carolina. Taking up residence on the old family farm and landing a job at the local Quaker Café, she hopes to leave her troubled past behind.
At the café, Katy finds allies, kind people willing to protect her and offer advice. There's the gracious owner who insists that manners prevail, the no-nonsense cook who tackles life with a cast iron frying pan, a Yankee transplant who doesn't bow to convention, and a shrewd Southern lawyer who sees a chance for Katy to profit from her predicament. But when Hank discovers her whereabouts, Katy's newfound peace is broken. As a heated standoff involving Hank, local and federal law enforcement, and the media ensues, how far will the Cedar Branch community go to avert violence and save lives?

What’s happening in Acker’s Gap, West Virginia? Three elderly men are gunned down over their coffee at a local diner, and seemingly half the town is there to witness the act. Still, it happened so fast, and no one seems to have gotten a good look at the shooter. Was it random? Was it connected to the spate of drug violence plaguing poor areas of the country just like Acker’s Gap? Or were Dean Streeter, Shorty McClurg, and Lee Rader targeted somehow?

Story
Only God knew why Jillian Slater agreed to return to New Orleans on the news that her father had finally drunk himself to death. It's not like they were close. She hadn't seen him - or her grandmother, the ice queen - in almost 20 years. But when Adella Atwater, the manager of her grandmother's apartment house, called and said her expenses would be paid if she'd fly in for the burial, a free trip to New Orleans was too intriguing to resist.

Baseball may be America’s official favorite pastime, but for Martha Rose and her friends, quilting is far more fun… and a lot less dangerous. A diamond brocade pattern is more quilter Martha Rose’s style than a baseball diamond - especially when it comes to the new eyesore of a stadium ruining her lovely San Fernando Valley neighborhood. Martha doesn’t know a bunt from a bundt cake, but when she stumbles upon the battered body of baseball coach Dax Martin, she doesn’t need a scorecard to know it’s foul play.

Great narration and story line.
I am obsessed with The Quaker Cafe series. I'm very sad that there are only two books. I wish there were more. As, I say always. I love Bahni Turpin's narration. I loved the detail in the story. I like the Quakers commitment to noon violence.

The Infuriating Rightness of Quaker Compassion
If you could sum up Home to Cedar Branch in three words, what would they be?
Nobody's Perfect, But....
What was one of the most memorable moments of Home to Cedar Branch?
I think we all can agree after listening to this book that a skylight has no business in a doctor's examination room.
Which scene was your favorite?
Inside the Quaker Meetinghouse, when not only the ex-husband seems to fall under the Quaker spell but the battered wife starts to lose some of her hate and anger.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, sitting on the deck with my coffee on a Sunday morning listening to this book was lovely.
Any additional comments?
If you ever wonder about the Quaker sensibility and feasibility of non-violence in our society, this book is a good one to see it in action in a humorous way.

Sorry..my stomach couldn’t take the turkey slaughter
Way to much detail about turkey farm life, my stomach couldn’t take it. Wish the story would have stayed more focused on the characters & their drama.
