Publisher's summary

A beekeeper with a sting. A cat with a secret. A cat rescue in the middle of it all....

In the small town of Tablerock, Texas, life is as sweet as honey. Fifty-year-old Ellie Rockwell’s Silver Circle Cat Rescue is settling into the shelter’s inherited mansion on the edge of town, and only a few people know about the magical platter that came with it—the one that allows cats to speak to humans.

But life takes a sour turn when local beekeeper and honey entrepreneur Ben Tyson is found dead, leaving his beloved cat, Honey, as the only witness to the crime.

As Ellie and Evie work to help Honey piece together what happened to her former owner, the investigation puts the rescued cats (and the cat rescuers) in a heap of sticky trouble. Not everyone in town was as sweet on Ben as they appeared, and they definitely didn’t want anyone buzzing about it.

Can Ellie, Evie, and their furry friends solve the crime before the killer strikes again?

Find out in Honey, Hairballs, and Murder, the second book in a purr-fectly paranormal midlife cozy mystery series.

Great!

What a fun story! I think it was brilliant the way the cats could talk. Murder is always interesting to see if I can figure out how did it.
Meghan is a great narrator! She can do all the characters and you know who is talking. Fantastic job!

Great mystery for almost all ages

A great non-graphic murder mystery. Listen either by yourself or with family to see if you can solve the mystery.

Looking for more books in the series.

Great Book

I enjoyed this whimsical book of cats and dogs with attitude. This amateur sleuths of mother and daughter who own a cat sanctuary are owners of a magical silver tray that allows the animals to talk to them. The animals secrets aid in solving the murder. Meghan Kelly narrates this book well.

Cats, Secrets, Murder, and New Beginnings

Tablerock, Texas will never be the same again when a beekeeper is murdered but never fear amateur sleuths Ellie and her friends are on the case. Honey, Hairballs, and Murder has everything murder, mystery, secrets, and romance. I was literally hooked by chapter two because that little twist had me laughing and wanting to hear more. I highly recommend this book if you love mysteries, romance, murder, with a side of twist and turns. Meghan Kelly is really outdid herself as the narrator she gave the story life. The characters and plot are strong, and I want more from this author.

Absolutely great series!

Honey, Hairballs, and Murder is the 2nd book in the Silver Circle Cat Rescue Mysteries series. This book continues the story of Ellie Rockwell, her daughter Evie, and their friends at the cat rescue in Tablerock Texas. It is a well guarded secret that the humans at the facility can talk to the animals and together they solve crimes. In this book, a local beekeeper is found dead in this shop and Ellie and company are determined to solve the murder. I love how the characters continue to be fleshed out and their relationships grow. I can understand Ellie’s protectiveness of Evie, but Ellie needs to back off a bit. The narration by Meghan Kelly is absolutely terrific. Her voicing choices for each character are unique and perfectly suited to them. Ms. Kelly’s performance brings the characters and story to life! Can’t wait for the continuing adventures of these amateur sleuths!

Brilliant, hysterically funny, yet poignant perfection!

When Ellie and Evie step out to Ben’s Honey Pot for some fresh local honey, the last thing they expect to find is Beekeeper Ben Tyson … expired! With human witnesses few and far between, it’s up to Ellie, Evie, and the Silver Circle Cat Rescue’s magical, mystical, intervention to figure out what happened, and who’s responsible, before anyone else gets an expiration date! Brilliantly, beautifully written and narrated beyond perfection, I throughly enjoyed every single second of this fabulous listen! The story weaved through “Honey, Hairballs and Murder” is delightfully interesting, hysterical funny at times, poignant at others, yet at all times easy to understand, smooth flowing and easy to follow! There are plenty of suspects to keep the listener guessing, and more than enough mystery and suspense to delight this armchair detective! All of my questions were answered, and the reveal left me completely satisfied! I’m giving no plot details and spoiling no surprises! This is book two, and at this point I feel as if I know these delightful, fully developed, beautifully crafted characters, and I’ll not be the one to betray them by giving up their secrets! You’ll have to listen, but trust me, it will be SO worth it! I love the “human” series regulars. They are so delightfully REAL, they react to situations as real people I know in life would! Each newbie making a guest appearance for THIS story, be they likable or non, is fully developed and beautifully designed as well, rounding out the story perfectly. The dialogue for the human characters is beautifully written, and entirely convincing, especially that between Ellie and Evie in times of stress. Again no spoilers, all is explained in the story! The dialogue written for the delightfully designed animal characters is pure delightful GOLD! Hysterically funny, sarcastic, snappy, biting and absolutely, positively, perfectly suited to both the character’s personality, and this story! I will confess, there were times that I listened, and then went back and re-listened to a section, or four, multiple times with tears of laughter streaming down my face, just because it was just too funny not to! This type of comedic writing interwoven so beautifully into the plot is GENIUS, and truly balanced this story to perfection! These characters and this funny, beautiful, cosy mystery is brought beautifully ALIVE by truly amazing narration! I love the voicing choices for ALL the characters, each voice matching that character’s personality perfectly! I love that the MINDSET of each character is so clearly, consistently, and cleverly conveyed that I KNOW exactly what is going on with them at all times, and with a level of emotion that is astounding! I throughly enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to see what everyone gets up to next! Five fantastic stars for a truly fabulous listen!

Honey and murder

The story is not only about solving a murder, but also about caring for each other, and being there when someone needs you the most. Also, I loved how Belladonna behaves, and how she and Honey interact with each other.
The narrator was wonderful and truly brought the story to life. I would recommend this book to others!

Fun & interesting

The book was interesting. I found the talking cat plate to be a cute addition to the story. The murder investigation was well played out. It kept me in suspense all throughout until it was revealed. The narrator did a fabulous job of adding accents & bringing the story to life. I love listening to Meghan Kelly’s books!

Another great listen!

I love listening to these book! The story is so versatile. It is a wonderful little mystery mixed with interesting characters with stories that always involve town pets. I enjoy all of those things. In here we meet Honey and I have to say he is one vocal opinionated cat! He was definitely my favorite just because..What an Attitude!

This is written well and flows along at a good pace. It is fun, delightful and made me smile! The narration in here is done by Meghan Kelly. She does such an amazing job on all the different voices. She elevates the already wonderful story to the next level!
